Shooters must be at gennesse range by 9:30 am saturday aug 18/07. we will have a brief meeting and go over range rules at this time.the shoot will start at 10:00am sharp. because all targets are steel reactive plates i can only run 3 shooters at a time. I have changed the amount of bullets we will shoot. now round 1 will be prone and you will have 20 min to shoot 15 bullets and try to flip down as many of your 15 targets as you can. Round 2 will be sitting shooting through a window (yes you can rest your stock on window frame) This round will be 20 min with 15 rnds to knock over as many of your targets as you can. Round 3 will be a timed round shooting on a 45 degree slope. you will have 5 min to knock 1 plate target down at each distance with a max amount of 15 rnds. and if you want to stay after the shoot and shoot some more i will leave the targets out as long as you want.THERE WILL BE TIME IN BETWEEN EACH ROUND FOR YOUR GUNS TO COOL.Rear shooting sock and bipods are allowed and if you have a spotter you can use him but if you dont im sure somone there can help you out.

That's nice you upped the round count but if we're going to be doing timed runs with as many rounds as you're wanting us to fire, some guns are going to be terminally affected by the heat. I know, personally, I can't afford to cook the barrel on my 338LM and 15rounds in 10min will definitely do that.

After seeing the shooting protocol I have to agree that there is a risk of overheating some very expensive rigs, especialy if the outside temp is in the high twenties and up. I liked the first idea of 5 shot rounds with time to cool and shooting different positions.... 15rnd string in 10 min could be a problem....might be ok also depending on weather conditions.

I will be at the shoot either way for sh*t's and giggles, but may not put my rifle through the full pace of the shoot if there is a risk of damage to my firearm.

I love the idea of more shooting, just not thrilled of it all happening in one sitting for a precision rig. I would give it a go with a M-14 or AR-10 type rifle.

Just an opinion.

because of the amount of ppl coming to the shoot i will give you 20 min to shoot your 15rnds for the first stage and 20 min for the 2nd stage and for the third timed round you only have to knock 1 plate down at each range so if ur good you will only shoot 5 rnds in stage 3 but i will let you shoot as many rounds as 15 if you need to. also inbetween each stage u will have lots of time for your gun to cool. i know alot of u shoot really expensive guns and the last thing i want to do is have u cause any harm to the barrels. i hope this work better for you guys and gals(my other post wasnt really clear but that is what happens when you let a welder touch a computer) thanx

also each target is worth a different amount points so if u only shoot at the targets worth the most points u can shoot less and still score high.

That sounds ok then. Thanks for the clarification on that. By the way, did they get the gravel in that was promised to the range?

We need this kind of a match in Ontario, damb it is time to move west! Have a good shoot guys, please post pics when it is over, would love to see the range, prize area and rigs you guys are shooting.

i was at the range on saturday and the contractor doing the gravel was supposed to come and look at things on tuesday and then get started somtime this week so im hoping it will be done in time for the shoot.

And good work on organising, Mutt-R

its more work than it seems, eh?

Outstanding work on organising!! Think were in for a great shoot on a great range.

Hope to hit your Wainwright shoot next year Klunk, hear it was a big success also.

And for the record, wasn't trying to whine....I see how it could come across that way in a post, and I appologize for that:redface:. Thats the downfall of reading a typed post. I would adapt my shooting or switch rifles for the match according to conditions.

I know some of the rigs coming up and I do understand the concerns about barrel heat and would have the same concerns with my Dakota, (which I hope to shoot the match with.)

I believe Mutt has a very good match layout and Im betting this is going to be a challengeing shoot as well as a great deal of fun. And I am looking forward to seeing and meeting all next weekend.

hi every1
i just spent 14 hours cutting and welding 45 steel plate targets that flip down so far i have used 155 ft of rebar 8ft by8ft half inch plate and 13ft of 1 inch pipe and about a 1 mile of mig wire the shooting stands are done and let me tell you why any 1 would want to be a carpenter is way beyond me.i was out at the range last night and the contractor is coming on wed to do the road so it will be all done by thur night. and i am trying to get ahold of the farmer to get him to cut his hay in front of the berms but if he cant do it i will put the targets on the berm so either way we are covered. hope everyone is ready to shoot and have alot of fun. see u all on saturday

p.s i built a full size mantarget on springs so if any 1 brings there 50cal you can shoot the crap out of it at 700m cause i shot it with my 308 but at that distance it just waved around i want to see it lay right down and stand back up.
