On the surface there seems to be a lack of gunsmiths available in Canada.

However, being a newbie, I figure the best course of action is to ask for some inside advice.

Would someone be so kind as to provide me with the names and contacts of a few of the best pistolsmiths here in Canada.

Cheers.

I find Roger Kotanko of DARK one of the best in southern Ont.... PM me if you want his contact info

of course for a relatively simple job like that, you don't need one of the top flight guys. this link might help www.chebucto.ns.ca/Recreation/AMA/AMA-Links.htm

Besides gunnar there is smoking gun fx, but they are probably quite busy too. Ellwood Epps does good gun repair, don't know how fancy they can get, but a front sight is well within their capability. I expect if you contacted the colt distributor they would have a gunsmith to recommend. Talk to your local gunshop, if there is someone around, they will likely know who.

Pistolsmiths

I understand MD Charlton (Central Saanich/Brentwood Bay) in the Victoria area does excellent work on S&W revolvers. I pick up my Highway Patrolman
.357 from them tomorrow, so we'll see :)

+1 for murray he's busy doing stuff for law enforcement most times but his pistol work is very good.. He's built a couple revolvers for me...

Yeah, there is a paucity.
Heard some horror stories about some of the Canadian ones too.
I was referred to a Canadian Smith by John Harrison in the states. Contacted the guy, had specs reviewed. Then he vanished off the earth apparently...no email, no phone answer.

So I called Don Williams of Action Works in the US and placed an order.

Personally I would NEVER use a Canadian smith. Just my preference, The US guys of note are quite well-known and more reliable too.
