Top small game shotgun picks?

1st A flying grouse is really hard to hit with a .22
You need more practice.

Just kidding:p, that's why I said keep it below the horizon, because if you miss
uh oh!
Anyways, when was the last time you seen a grouse fly for more that 3 seconds?
Last time I was out grousing I could of just used a pole with a loop at the end.

I would love to hunt grouse wherever you are. Most grouse I see are flushing at 40 yards and they are motoring. Every once in a while you get the young or stupid ones that strut by right in front of you, but for the most part shots are fast and usually require even faster follow ups.

My vote is for a lightweight semi, they don't swing as nicely as a double but they are faster for me and this isn't pass shooting it is reactive shooting. I have a Benelli Ultralight and I love it for that purpose, shoots where I point, very light and oh so fast. Cheers,

Patrick

I know, I know, I should have bought an 870.

I've hunted grouse on both ends of our great country.
Northern BC(probably 40km's NW of Dawson Creek) and we used my old
Toyota on some old woods trails, when we'd see one, stop truck get out and shoot them in the head, lazy man's hunting I know.
And before I moved out west(even though I'm back east again, just haven't been out hunting) we used to walk down the old rail bed(now NL trailway) and
some old woods roads, and same thing then, see them and shoot them, hardly ever on the fly, though I must admit I was using a shotgun back then due to .22 being unlawful at that time.
