Top Ten Favourite Handguns

My two cents, or should i say TEN cents :p This is a list of my favorites, not "The Top Ten Handguns Of All Time", although alot of these would make that list.

1. Glock 19 The Striker-fired Standard

2. Sig 229 Hammer-fired Workhorse, Built Like A Tank

3. Glock 23 The Striker-fired Standard in .40

4. Sig 226 Built Like A Slightly Larger Tank

5. Springfield XD 3.8 A Straight Shooter

6. Beretta 92 Tried n' True

7. Steyr M9-A1 Wilhelm Bubits' NeoGlock

8. Colt 1911 Classic .45

9. Browning Hi Power Old School Cool

10. Walther PPK Shaken... Not Stirred

I have shot them all but the Steyr, and from what i've read it is a very fine pistol. Since we can get 'em up here hopefully i can get my hands on one soon.
Our next favorites list oughta go to 50! :D

In no order:

1. CZ Sp-01 Shadow
2. Beretta 92 FS
3. S&W 27
4. S&W 25
5. S&W 17 (or 617)
6. Colt 1911 in 45 ACP
7. Colt 1911 in 9mm
8. Sig 226 Elite
9. Sig X5
10. Riger New vaquero

Actually i love them all, but here are some of my favourites, yes I forgot (didn't have enough space) the Luger, and the Contender, the SIGs...
no particular order:

  1. High Standard Supermatic military match 106
  2. CZ 75 (shadow)
  3. CZ 97
  4. STI Trojan
  5. STI Spartan
  6. S&W 28 4 inch
  7. S&W 29
  8. Ruger Super redhawk
  9. Ruger GP 100
  10. Ruger Charger

Interesting that although many, many Glock's are bought, they don't figure on all that many people's lists (compared with Sig's etc).

My list (based on combination of cost, accuracy, fun etc):
1. Browning Medalist (combines great looks and accuracy with beautiful
workmanship)
2. Sig 226 in 9mm
3. modified Norinco 1911 (don't laugh -- works very well and great value, but
mechanical tolerances aren't close to the two older Brownings)
4. TC contender in .22 14" and 10" .357 Rem Max
5. Browning Challenger I
6. CZ Sp-01 Shadow
7. Ruger Super Redhawk
8. Fabrique Nationale FNP-45
9. Browning P35 Hi-Power
10. Sig X5

I like to think of Glocks as a use and abuse gun, it does the job, but that's about it! I really don't think they are fancy guns, or safe queens, they just shoot well and shoot reliably - sort of like that ole 1988 honda civic hatchback you might have! :D

well said. guess thats kinda why they made my list twice hehe.:D i used to really not like glocks. not the prettiest guns. i was, and still am, a total Sighead. Although, i think the second or third time i shot a 19, i hit a perfect bullseye from ten yds -1 bullet thru 1 target- and while not THAT big of a deal, i was still totally hooked!(saved the target, of course) and since i was already "hooked" on almost every other handgun, it was only natural.:p
its funny coz seeing all these lists keeps makin me wanna go back n change mine!

good stuff

n dont worry, im not one of those super glock freaks who only talks about how "perfect" glocks are. i just shoot tight groups with em, and to me a gun's reliability is of paramount importance. ive only ever had one stovepipe FTE (aluminum cased ammo:() in thousands o' rounds thru many different models.
i like them numbers!

Hmm.... I'll have to go by categories, I guess. Many of these I have owned, or been issued by an employer:

SA revolver: Colt SAA .45LC
DA revolver: S&W 586/686 .357MAG
Rimfire DA revolver: S&W 617
Rimfire single action pistol: Ruger Mark II (Pick your favorite barrel and sights)
SA pistol: Browning GP35 "Hi Power"
TDA pistol: Sig P220 or P226, depending on your calibre concern
DAO pistol: S&W 5946. No, really. I have been nothing short of impressed by this thing.
Striker fired pistol: S&W M&P - What the Glock would like to grow up and be.

Ah, that leaves me two short..... I did really enjoy a few rounds through a Colt Anaconda once - the most accurate handgun I have EVER shot. And I guess if I was allowed CCW, I'd have to find a compact 9mm or .380 that I liked, because my ass ain't big enough to hide much else.

SIG 1911
Baretta 92 fs
Browning hi power
Browning BDA 380
Walther PPK
American Eagle Luger (I have one that is absolutely mint, it is my never sell gun)
S&W model 19 round butt 2 1/2"
S&W model 41
S&W model 29
HK P7
