Torn between Dan Wesson specialist LASD and SA TRP 1911

Looking for a bit of advice here.

Both options in .45

Quality and reliability a toss up ?

Which one is easier/better for possible warranty issues in Canada?

Both are within 200.00 of each other with the TRP coming in at 200.00 more than the Dan Wesson.

** update**. Went with the Dan Wesson Specialist with the Black Duty finish

** update June 29th** decided to get two. I was going to sell the LASD and just get the Valor…..but couldn’t bring myself to sell it. Here are the boys ……home at last. For the life of me…..I have no idea how to straighten the pictures ��

They are both fine pistols - you probably won’t go wrong with either. The DW is stainless and has a better rear sight (you can use it to clear malfunctions single handed easier than the Novak style), and is stainless. The checkering on the DW is finer (25 lpi vs 20).

I’d say DW because I’ve heard better things about their QA/QC than SA, but I don’t think you’d go wrong with either.

This is one of those cases where it’s more of an emotional choice than technical. Which one do you like better?
 
I just purchased (today actually) the Dan Wesson LASD Specialist in 9mm as I already own a Colt Gold Cup Trophy in .45 (didn't need another .45 in 1911 style)

I've heard nothing but great things about the DW - this is why I picked it up. I don't think you could go wrong with either TBH.
 
I would go with the DW. I have had a few Springfields back in the day and they were fine, but most the recent ones I have seen have not been as good as the older ones and you hear about a lot of QC issues with them. I am sure a TRP or Professional model would be better but the DW sounds like a semi-custom to me as opposed to the Springfields which are really production line pistols.

That is kind of where I’m at too. Just trying to figure out potential warranty and how easy it would be to access.

So, where would you draw the line cost wise ? At what repair estimate would you avail yourself of the warranty ?
 
If you have the opportunity and the means to purchase a Dan Wesson, then it is certainly the way to go. They are perhaps the closest one can get to a truly custom grade 1911 right out of the box.
 
I’ve not owned any Springfield Armoury pistols but I have been very impressed with the three Dan Wessons I’ve owned.
