I'm looking for a fun cheap to shoot NR rifle and I can't decide between the Jr Carbine and the Keltec SU16. I'm hoping someone who has both could give some insight. Buying both is not and option at this point. Thanks.

I've owned a Sub-2000 and have handled several JR's. The JR is without a doubt the higher quality firearm, and if I were to buy one, I would get the JR.

Mind you, this is a moot point, because the Kriss I got to play around with blows both of them out of the water. :D

The JR has the same grip, trigger, stock, and safety as the the m4/ar-15 so if you own one of those already the the JR makes a great NR training platform if you wanna run drills and such and have the muscle memory transfer. Plus you can use your pistol mags as well, bonus.

If you reload pistol cartridges, I'd give the JR carbine the edge, because you wil be able to shoot for cheaper than the 223 cartridge of the SU16. Have you considered a rifle like the CZ858? A well made gun, and ammo is cheap.

Ones 9mm the other is 223. Guess it depends how far you want to shoot. The JR has had some issues but I haven't heard anything bad about the SU16.

if the folding option is an important factor, then get the sub 2000/ SU 16. both have terrible sights and the SU-16 has limitations in regards to scope mounting. However the SU-16 is the cheapest .223 NR option out there. I have the sub-2000, it's nowhere near the gun that my CX-4 Storm, however it's very easy to transport and takes up very little space. The gun is decent but the sights really hold this gun back.

.223 or Pistol Calibre? You have to decide.

I would lean to the JR.

For me, in .40 SW so as to be able to swap mags with my Glock 22 .40 SW when carrying both.

Its a good set up.

I know the Keltec has its fan base, but I personally just can't get over the polymer receiver.
