I just came back from the clinic and have to say it was well worth the trip up to Barrie.
It was really great meeting a few new faces and getting a no BS lesson on how to tweak the M14.
Hungry's lifetime of experience was priceless, and his stories were a bonus.

My M14 now pings like a tuning fork. I'm sitting here at home just racking the action, listening to the ping.

If you haven't been to one of his clinics, I strongly suggest you get out to one.

Thanks again Hungry.

Kudos to Hungry

:agree: :agree: :agree:

What an experience - I cant count the times today I said "THAT alone was worth the price of admission"

Want to know what tools to buy, what to avoid, what WILL make your #### fall off ... or even where Hungry got his name ? Want to make your Norc Sing ?

You gotta go to this clinic.

Too bad the guys in Halifax cant get there stuff together .... ;)
(Hungry made me say that !!)

Amazing job Hungry - dont be surprised to see my face at another clinic. Next time we will bed the action too. :dancingbanana:

Kudos to Hungry for an excellent clinic!

Like the others have posted, it was such a great learning experience. I learned more in the clinic about the M14 than my countless hours of reading and watching YouTube videos. There is no replacement for a hands-on tutorial! I am super happy with my rifle now.. Thanks to the tuning done at the clinic and the on-site welding services provided (which was amazing, thanks guys) I'm sure the ol' Norc's going to be a tack driver (heh). :ar15:

Here's a pic of the classroom, talk about hands on! Almost everyone is engaged with something, amazing! I think our fearless leader is burried in the middle somewhere? Faces blurred to hide the innocent.. :p

Some of us braved the bitter cold to test out our boomsticks:

My #### Didn't Fall Off!!!!

Thanks Hungry for the lesson on keeping my ####. My better half actually paid for this course so I could keep my #### from falling off. It was in danger of doing so after she made me watch "Out of Africa" the other night...
The lecture on the toys needed to keep ones #### intact was worth the price of the course alone. But to actually get to work on ones broomstick like we did, and then to go and check in the bathroom that, yes, my #### was still securely attached, made this course very worthwhile.
For those out there who want to keep their dicks firmly attached to their nether regions, and for those ladies who would like to grow a ####, I highly recommend this course.

:D:D:ar15:

All kidding aside, the information taken away from this single day of training gave me that feeling I used to have with my old FN. Kind of like having a girl on the side that you know intimately.

Information from Hungry was top notch, the anecdotes to break up the sessions, the "have to have" knowledge of how to do everything from disassembly to measuring fired casings to get the proper sizing for reloading are invaluable.

Special thanks to our welders who helped us make these chunks of metal and wood "sing".

And a special thanks to all the guys who were there.. Who, believe it or not, imparted their own wisdom on the M14, and other Gun Nutz related topics throughout the day.

WELL worth the price of admission.

Seeya's at the range

PS: Good to meet ya GT.. ;)

Great clinic.. thanks Hungry for sharing your wisdom.. I recommend this clinic to anyone who owns an m14..

I was analyzing first range picture up top, to see if i could figure out the trajectory of my extractor.. i didn't find it.. my large magnet wasn't in my truck, so i dug through the snow like an archaeologist and no such luck.. i guess I either wait til spring or take a trip to the US..

Valmet - I guess the cases with the burrs that you have reloaded 18 times have taken their toll?? :p :p

Craftsman441 took measurements for the bolt assembly tool - or give me a call and I will hold the hammer for you :D :D :D

i think the burred brass theory is out the window... this time it blew out with south african surplus..

on the plus side, I took the springs that were hanging out of the bolt out, and even though i cant shoot it, I can listen to the PING..

That was one of the most enjoyable gun experiences I have ever had.

Hungry and company made the time zip by. The welders toiled away and the entire gang was busy pounding, grinding, shimming, gouging and all that other good stuff. Biggest collection of M14s I've ever seen under one roof.

I have no idea about accuracy, yet.
But firing two rounds I noticed her to be very smooth in general. Not just the trigger. The entire rifle feels like it had a major overhaul, which she did.
I'd really wish I had taken some "before" groups.

All I need now is that "must have" recoil spring guide from Marstar. Hungry said if I don't, well you know.:dancingbanana:

I agree it was totally worth it to go. Hungry has got a lot of wisdom to pass on. If you have an M-14 and haven't gone to one of these you should. Otherwise your #### will...well you know. I learned lots of things that you cannot get out of a book or off the internet. Like how to feel the head spacing on a USGI bolt or the sound of a tight rifle.

Thanks Hungry! A great job and thanks to Busta Capp for being point man for this.

What?!?!?!?! Man you are unlucky!!

Why don't you give me that SA ammo and I will test it and look after it for you until you get your extractor back. :D I promise to "love it and hug it and call it George".

what a bunch of thoughtful guys you gunnutz are.. trying to give my ammo a good home in these "extractorless" times..

fortunately (for the sake of the ammo), i have other guns i can feed it to.

It was well worth the cost of admission even if I did not have my M1A with me. :)

Was good to put faces to some of the membership. :)

This reminds me, you know who you are, the one with the shims in your box of used cases. I did not forget. :D

Time to fill the needles with grease. ;)

Well I would like to extend my thanks to Busta Cap, Hunger & the Barrie Gun Club for hosting today's M14 Clinic.

I know there was was multiple decades worth of firearm related experiences present in the class. Even thou this was evident by simply engaging in casual conversations, or listening in on others describing experiences and solutions, it was clear Hunger lead us accuracy junkies in the ways of "M14 Craft".

Hunger your wealth of information, technical experience and a little horse sense and 'welfare solutions' wad appreciated. I can honestly say I have come from this clinic with a solid understanding of my M14 and confident I will be able to trouble shoot any condition which may develop in the future. Will I be able to solve them my self? no, I am not a Smith, however, I can tell a Smith exactly what I am going to need.

Coming to this Clinic from an "Operator" perspective, which has been 20+ yrs, spanning from Military, Law Enforcement, Security, Recreational & Certified Instructor, that was the best K.I.S.S. Class I've had in years.... No Bull, No Frills, of course because we would be less of a man....

Stay Safe and Shoot Straight Guys..... With a new found "Ping"

Thanks to everyone who came out and took part in this. The bigger the class, the more you get out of these things, as everyone has different stories, perspectives, and kit! This was my second class with Hungry and I still learned new stuff. So like Hungry says about the actual M14 itself (don't buy one, buy two!), don't attend the class just once, attend twice, or more!

Valmet762, sorry about that extractor, that was a bit*h.

Also, nice to have a visit from GT, and finally see who runs this joint! Thanks for hosting such an awesome site.

So Hungry, same time next year? ;)

Got back last night from the clinic (6 hour drive), 3 blizzrds and 2 road closures and all done in a beat up old 96 gmc pick up. IT WAS EFFIN WORTH THE TRIP!!!
What can i say that hasn't already been said............hmmmm...oh yeah....here it is: WEST COAST AIN"T GOT NUTHIN ON SOUTH CENTRAL!!!!
Thats how we ROLL in SC!!
(South Central Ontario that is)

Excellent Clinic Hungry, will definitely see you in SUDZBURY in Sept. I'm also proud to say that the bedding you helped me with came out great. just gotta clean her up and its gonna look killer with that synthetic GI stock. Not sure if i'll be driving tacks with it, but then again, there aren't alot of tacks running around Manitoulin, so i guess i'll have to help with the over population of deer here.

Excellent Show - Learned Alot & Laughed my ass off....
GET OFF MY GIRLFRIEND!!
BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!BAM!

Cost of Fuel for Hungry's Clinic - $75.00
Cost of Lunch for Clinic - $ 8.00
Cost of Clinic Admission - $35.00
Cost of the perfect "ping"
and knowing my #### won't
fall off...............................PRICELESS

Any of you Nutters interested in my brass, pm me and its yours ( i don't reload)....just have to pay shipping.

Cheers & Beers

~Harry~

Hey, Valmet762, I tried to PM you but your PM's are not enabled. Does this look familiar?

I went digging around in the snow by the shooting bench and found this little item under some fluffy white stuff. Let me know how to get in touch.
