Hey everyone, I'm fairly new here. Anyways due to recent political events I've moved up getting my PAL and RPAL as being very urgent. Originally I was gonna just go for my PAL but with this coalition as such a huge threat to gun owners. I wish to exercise my rights. I am 2 months from turning 18 and was just wondering all about the course where can I pick up the manuals in the GTA.

Can I take the course(s) before I turn 18 and then apply for PAL/RPAL on the day I turn 18 on February 3rd, 2009?

If so I'd be looking to take the course some time over the winter break. Then hopefully I'll purchase my first firearms shortly after I turn 18.

Any info or comments would help. I have 70 acres up on highway 7 not in my name but uninhabited and I will be inheriting it. So I have the chance of setting up a small private range if that is possible and shoot restricted firearms on it?

These are the firearms I am considering as price is an issue and it is a major purchase.

- Norinco 1911
- Norinco M305
- Rugger 10/22
- Remington 870

I just took the York Region Firearms Academy courses for PAL/RPAL myself. Great bunch of people there I thought. As for the books, grab 'em in PDF (They are about, damned if I can remember where I found 'em though) as part of the course cost is for the books.

But from my admittedly limited knowledge, there's no reason at all you couldn't take the courses prior to being 18. Heh, It's a long, long wait anyhow. I did my course in early october - The RCMP only just charged the credit card for my fees. So, in other words, take the course now, start sending in the stuff as needed (the test results, initially - Actually, the course sends them in for you, but you have to wait till they get back before you can send in the actual PAL/RPAL application. Start now & it'll likely BE Febuary before you get that piece of plastic. (Or at least i *think* it's plastic..<g> :)

Yeah, but if you already have the books, York Region will discount the cost from your course fee.

I did mine with Guns.to they are a great group of guys (girl). I would go to them again if I ever had any reason. They tend to offer courses at a hotel at Sheppard and 400 or close to it.
