These people voting no would also vote No on a fall hunt as well. There's something about bears that antis have a real soft spot with.
I’ve noticed this as well, my wife’s aunt and uncle here in town are in that category and they are gun owners, raise their own chickens for eggs and meat and goats for milk. Her aunt especially is opposed to it, you should’ve seen the look on her face at a potluck we were all at in December. We brought bear sausages, little meatballs and heart and liver pâté which everyone went wild over and couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. By the end of the night you could tell it was bugging the hell out of her, the crazy thing is they absolutely love coming over to our house for venison, grouse or hare dinners. They don’t hunt but aren’t anti hunting, they just can’t get over some ethical issues with bears being hunted for any reason. I want to point out how back in the day bears were sought after for their meat, fat and hide/claws. Talk about a multi use animal, that has strong population numbers here in B.C.
