Here's a couple of pics and vids! from yesterday's Toronto Tavor demo day... Thanks to TR1 for taking most of them!

This rifle is pretty amazing, everyone that tried it seemed to like it a lot. I shot consistent bull's eyes with it from bench rest at 50yrds. The MOA on the M21 is pretty large and covered most of the target, but seemed to be dialed in pretty well.

The rifle is very ergonomic and fit me very well. Recoil is controllable and there wasn't any issues with FTF, FTE, etc ... both PMAG and LAR15 mags fell free easily and performed well.

We blasted about 500 rounds through it !! Thanks to Mondo for throwing an extra 200 rounds into the fray!

I was wobbling between the Swiss CQB and this until I tried it.. now I think the Tavor is a no brainer:

+ 10 round mags
+ non-restricted
+ exotic and excellent design

A big thanks to Canada Ammo for making this happen! :D

when they said Toronto Tavor day I thought I might go....

..not really anywhere near Toronto...

Looks like the 10-rounders fit nicely in the Tavor though... nice :)

Where does the 5-round limitation come from? is it a hunting reg?

I'm not at all certain, but I just hadn't heard anything about only being able to use the 10-round pistol mags at a range, since the mags themselves aren't restricted (no ATT required, etc.)

I thought that it would follow that if I had a NR rifle, and was in a place I could legally discharge it, and a magazine that was also legal, then it would be fine.

its unrestricted so in a bush 5-rounders only.

Magazine release

how does the mag release work? it looks like something that has to be operated with by weak hand, and wouldn't that slow down changes compared to the AR-15-style, where you can be dropping weak hand to get the new mag, while your empty mag is being released?

Or perhaps using the full mag to 'sweep' the release catch on the way up?

I'm assuming the release is that lever in front of the magwell - can anybody comment?

Thanks,
DG

Here's a couple of pics of the magwell, DarkGreen:

It would definitely take some training to become as fast at a mag change as the AR15 ..

It took about an hour and a bit to get there... Closest to Toronto with an outdoor range, good vibe, and guest passes !! I also had it at Range Burlington for a surprise visit on Wed.
