Hey guys, wondering what torque for these old Weaver rings? Never used this ring style, rifle is a friend's. Thanks for taking a moment to reply. :)

I have always done them up "thumb and two fingers" tight with a properly ground screwdriver. Not very technical, but only one time in more than fifty years had threads strip. Maybe two or three times had a scope slip in the rings.

I would use 15-17 inch pounds on the top ring screws. I think you’ll find they’re extremely secure with just 15. Remember most specs are MAX torque. Tighten in a figure 8 pattern.

Some of those old Weaver rings are stamped and they can really ding your scope tube when you tighten the screws (ask me how I know). If you look on the inside of the rings, you might see a couple of small bumps on either side of the little flat spot for the screw head. I had one set of Weaver rings where it was really noticeable. I had to very carefully file off those bumps. No more scope dings after that little operation.
