Torque settings for attaching stock to barrel on Mosin?

The Mosin 91/30 bayonet make a good field screwdriver comrades!:) Seriously, i find it work really good and never got any problems, anyway tight the screws as much as you can by hands and voila! No need of somes mystic tools for that.... My 2 cents.

In the aftermath of buggered screw heads from ill fitting 'drivers, you can restore a lot of them by peening the slots and/or re-working them with a set of fine files(the craft type). Some screws are hardened so they need to be annealed to soften them before re-working. A poorly fitting screwdriver is a pox to be avoided.

If you're built like an NFL linebacker then one hand on the screwdriver to a "firm" setting. If you're built like an 97 lb office worker that wheezes from walking up two flights of stairs then both hands and go for all you're worth. In between a good fitting screwdriver used with a firm one handed but not white knuckle grip is fine.

There simply is no need to two hand it and work at crushing the wood.

If I had to guess at a torque I'd say something around 5 ft-lbs or just a hair more. Which would be 60 in-lbs. And most folks can do that sort of torque with one hand on a screwdriver.
