Torture Test! Sig Legion P226 vs Rex Zero 1

Only grain of sand I took from this was looking at the one that jammed the Sig :p it was a random test of two guns. I don't see why results would be different if they tested 10 of each, unless SIG has a huge quality control issues.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm getting at. Unless you actually measure the frame to slide fit, you're not in the position to honestly make a statement about it.

From a technical (statistical) viewpoint, a test that is based on one individual from population A vs. one individual from population B, offers no hard evidence about the superiority/inferiority of either population. That would require a RANDOM sample of sufficient size.

From a real world viewpoint, I think the Legion series is more about brilliant marketing than brilliant design/execution, and the Rex seems like a good deal to me. What I take issue with is the weight given to this one test by some.

If the CBC polled one Muslim cleric, and one Catholic priest about their views on the imposition of Sharia law, and said Canadians are evenly divided on the subject, I'd take it with a huge grain of salt.

I take the video, and the comments about it with a big grain of sand.

Well, guns are mass-produced to some manufacturer-specified standard. People (and their opinions)... not so much. Unless SIG Sauer's QC is garbage, a sample is somewhat representative. Maybe not as definitive as multiple data points, but carries more clout than a population comparison, given their mass-produced nature. Could it have been a lemon versus a very stellar example? Sure, but then it still doesn't say nice things about SIG Sauer, when you allow a supposedly top-end gun through that shouldn't have.

I'm not saying SIG Sauer pistols are crap because of one YouTube video, though. I don't really have an opinion on SIG Sauer pistols.

Id love to see this done to Glock 17, Beretta 92 and Cz75. I love my CZ but I think it would fail just as bad.

Me, too. I look forward to MAC testing other guns. I'm not enough of a ninja to get offended if my favourite handguns fail abysmally.

.

Statistical analysis is statistical analysis, regardless of the subject matter. To say a sample size of one is sufficient to represent an entire production run is nonsensical. The fact is the test doesn't say anything good or bad about Sig or Arex. The only thing that you can logically conclude from it is that of the two pistols tested, the Arex performed better. Anything beyond that is more fan-boy/hater than objective thought.

I'm no ninja, you're obviously no statistician

MAC's videos are for entertainment purposes and he does a good job at that.
They are far from professional or scientific and should not be relied upon by anyone to make decisions regarding firearm selection.

A while back he did a video where he dunked a HK VP9 in some water and it failed to fire. Quickly numerous videos surfaced of guys dunking their HK VP9's in water and having them function perfectly.

A Chevy Cavalier might get you from point A to point B just as reliably (or more) than a C63 AMG does, but at the end of the day you're still driving a Chevy Cavalier.

I will admit that I'm surprised though. I've already put my legion through the paces- arguably harder than this guy did, and it's yet to give me a single issue.

Seriously? You put your $1800 gun in worse conditions then submerged in sand, silt and water? 'Arguably' is probably the correct adverb

Conveniently he is now selling the Arex pistols from his shop, Copper Customs;)

This could explain why Tim uses the rattle test instead of calipers to gauge slide to frame fit. Lol. For what it's worth, the Rex seems like a decent gun at a decent price. I do have difficulty believing a tighter gun would run better in such a test. It's completely counter intuitive.

I highly doubt you ran your gun harder too
jam it full of sand and mud?
lets see a vid !

Aside from those who are in the business of selling guns who in hell takes a $1,300 gun they own and plugs it with mud and sand and expects it to run. Where in the civilian world would that happen with an expectation the gun would still run.

I mean really I have seen Glocks dragged behind a 4x4 across the desert and still function with bent sights, scratched and mutilated frames and I ask myself who does that to a pistol and what relevance does it have to how I treat my guns. The answer in both cases is there is none. I doubt it happens regularly in the armed forces. In theater the boys in the front need their forearms to function and I suspect they go out of their way to ensure they don't get plugged up with sand and mud. Just saying and in some respects asking.

If you own a Legion relax. The test is meaningless.

If you are looking for a new pistol you have another gun to look at. To my knowledge the other gun may not yet be available in Canada and if it isn't and more importantly if it is, is their a support system behind it. If the answer to both latter criteria is no then the video is nothing more than an interesting diversion.

Take Care

This also explains why he chose the Legion instead of a more comparable P226, like the MK25.

Isn't legion same as regular 226 except for some internals and maybe finish?

Costs more so it must be better. I have the MKe 25 and I am not so sure it would not bind up with sand stuffed in it and along the rails... see my post above. I don't roll around in mud often these days and my beach activities ended for the most part 46 years ago. LOL. I do appreciate there are those who do and those who do it for real have my gratitude and respect. The others not so much.
