As I anxiously wait for my RPAL to come in the mail, I decided to take a trip to P&D to look around. Was looking at the SIG 226......so lovely.
Then I checked out the H&K P30L. Beautiful and just fits the hand so well. I think my wife would have been jealous the way I was fondling those 2 fine pistols. Now I have a harder decision to make....
.22 SIG 226 or 9mm H&K P30L.
Would like to purchase both at same time......
Decisions Decisions!
My poor wallet :(

Take a peek at a Walther PPQ. I don't have one but everything I've read has been extremely positive; top of the market for ergonomics, accuracy, and reliability. I'm adding one to my own list.

Good luck making your decision :)

Thats what I was thinking all along........SIG 226 .22 with a conversion kit. That H&K is expensive but workmanship on that pistol is topnotch. You can see and feel why its expensive. The price point is close to the SIG but the conversion kit makes the 226 two in one really.
Didn't see a Walther PPQ but will definitly have a look if one comes in. Really nice looking pistol too.
Was mesmerized by the SIG and HK. Forgot to ask if they had a PPQ in store.
Was VERY tempted to buy but will wait til I get my RPAL.
Guys at P&D are great. Allowed me to handle both pistols without my license. They'll be getting a sale when it does come in.

Get what you love, and it will be the right decision. But if you can definitely try to finger a PPQ as it should be in the discussion. Lot of votes for Sig here though. You're in a fun situation right now.

I would (and did) go for a Sig P226 in 9mm. The .22LR conversion will likely not be as cheap as it sounds at first. You would be relying entirely on the difference in cost between .22LR and 9mm to offset the cost of the conversion kit. You would have to put a lot of rounds through the gun before you have saved enough to cover what you have spent on the conversion kit. (Right now, the .22 conversion kits are $299 at Cabelas. That means that you would have to shoot enough to save $299 in ammo.) If you can buy .22LR for $5/50 and 9mm for $15/50, you will save $10 for every 50 rounds you shoot. That means that you won't see any savings until you have shot 1500 rounds of .22LR. It is only after this point that you start seeing a single cent of savings.

Safest bet ... get the one that feels the best in your hand.

I would suggest to get P226 in 9mm, H&K P30L/P30LS in .40S&W and then the PPQ M2 in 9mm as well. it's a great combination.

I wouldn't say I'm a big Sig 226 fan but I am really impressed with those .22 conversion kits! I used to do club shoots where we'd get fifty kids out to shoot and the .22 Sig conversion always ran really well and shot accurately.

P&D is the best ! I always leave there happy ( and usually broke ) . ;)

So the savings start somewhere around the first or second time you take the pistol out?
Works for me.

So your savings won't be seen 'till after about 6 trips to the range, 'cause for many new shooters, going through less than 250 rds. of .22LR requires restraint.;)

I handled a Glock at the range......didn't like it. I felt it was too light as well.
Didn't like the look or the feel either. A lot of people like them...but just not for me.

You could buy a Sig 226 Classic (22lr) for about $600.00 and then add the 9mm xchange kit for around $400-500 more down the road.
