I think the reality of the situation is, I am in no position to put 700.00 down for a barrel. I shoot for fun and just happen to have a an old REM700 factory gun that is not picky. With a boyds aftermarket stock and my own Devcon bedding job, it shoots really well with my handloads.
As mentioned before, my best bet would be a good quality factory gun with the desired twist rate and go have fun. I enjoy just plinking now but find the light bullets really get pushed around by the wind at long ranges.
I wanted to find out what the real costs of new barrel would be, and go the answer here. Thanks again. I am just looking for ideas for my wife as she doesn't know what to get me for my 40th B Day that is coming up
