I'm trying to find a completely ambidextrous handgun for my wife (She's a lefty). Anyone have any suggestions?

I mean either fully ambidextrous, not just an ambi safety or a handgun that can be set up with a slide release and safety on the right side of the frame for use by a left handed shooter. I'd prefer totally ambi since I'm likely going to end up using it more that she does and I'd hate to buy a gun I cannot use.

I know about the S&W M&P but I'd rather cut off my hands than buy a Smith and Wesson so I need some other recommendations.

Another vote for the H&K USP - can be configured for either left or right safety/decock or ambi safety/decock, and a fully ambi mag release.

A Beretta is pretty ambi. I am a lefty, and have gotten used to the slide release being on the left. it's not that hard. Mag release changes over quick, and safety is on both sides....

HK USP, and the Glock can be had for lefties.

The slide release on the USP cannot be configured for lefties. But, it is very easy to manipulate with the index finger on the left hand.

Go for a CZ 85 Combat - slide release, mag release, and safety are all ambi. And, it is an inexpensive gun.

Look closely....

But I am a lefty and have found no better cheap set up than the NP-30.

Research the HECKLER & KOCH P2000. There is talk of a longer barrel version coming here soon.

Your question is a bit puzzling. Having controls on the left side is actually faster for most lefties. Otherwise, the pistol has to be rotated in small hands so the thumb can operate the controls. I cannot simply use the slide release on a K100 with my left thumb, but have to use the other hand. But with extended control on NP30, it is one handed. So IMO "totally ambi" might be a waste. To each his.....her.....own.

I'm a left hand shooter and found no reason to a have a L/H pistol.....the right hand one do very nicely....either way she has to get used to it  , some R/H people actually change their mag drop button so they can release it with the fore finger.......read that on the Enos site...

Choose a good gun for her and shoot the thing often.....I have three STI, Trojan, Edge, Stinger.....

Don't get me wrong in the beggining I was looking for a mag release on the proper side for a Lefty....now I'm glad I couldn't get one....the amby safety can be had on most pistol....

Take a look at what FN has to offer. New stuff is fully ambi I believe. Also the walther p99/ppq are good for us leftys. Just got a ppq navy and have put lots of rounds down range with a p99. love the paddle style mag release. HK offers some stuff with ambi controls. Paddle mag release etc.

Walther PPQ ?

this
get the Walther PPQ Navy, NON M2 design. the M2 makes the mag release a button, yes it can be flipped left to right side but i like the 1st design of the mag release paddle on the trigger guard better, and truly ambi rather than being able to be switched to work both lefty and rightly.
