Tough bush gun in .308 ... M305 vs Ruger Gunsite Scout vs T3 Battue?

My 7600 gets me 4" groups or less at 300yds with 165gn hotcores, can do better with different ammo but I like them. Fast on target and follow up shots if needed, will reach out well enough. I haven't read all the posts but for hunting it's hard to beat. Not a bench gun for sure but will fill freezers. I own plenty of bolts in all flavors and a couple of semi's but when I head to the bush looking for deer...it's the 7600, .308. I put that $hit on everything!

I agree. Quicker shooting than a bolt and dead reliable.

I'm with these two^^^

Cant think of a better freezer filling bush gun than a 760/7600 with a rear peep.

Glad I'm not the only one! Remington 760/7600 carbine (the older the better) in .308 with aperture sights. Lightweight, tough, reliable and you can definitely reach out to 300 with good aperture sights.

save your money till you can a new tikka t3 ctr

Well I just happened to stumble upon a CTR at a local shop. It was the first time I've ever seen one in person. I was worried that the "semi-heavy" profile barrel would make the rifle nose heavy but I'm happy to report that the barrel is pretty much midway between a heavy contour and a normal T3 Lite contour.

Haven had a Ruger GSR in the past, I'd say it's got a few nice features, including a very nice stock and nice iron sights. As for the action, it was always a big "meh" for me. I've always preferred Tikka actions and for all those who preach the "controlled feed" Mauser style action on the GSR, I think the Tikka push-feed will do just fine ... and it turns out the Canadian Rangers appear to agree with me on that.

All that to say, I bought the CTR.

Now I just need to find some time behind the reloading bench then it'll be off to the range!

Anyone have any suggestions for iron sights on the CTR? I see Sako has some irons for the TRG ($$$) and I wonder if they would work on the CTR. In a perfect world, whatever irons they put on the Canadian Ranger rifle would be available for me to buy.
