Tough Choices G19x or G48

I am in the market for a 9mm and tried the grip feel/fit of a number of pistols including the 19X. I tried then a Glock 17. It was my impression from a brief visual inspection that what Glock had done on the 19X is fit the 17 frame with the 19 side and barrel assembly. An analogy would be a 1911 Government and Commander. Same frame but shorter slide barrel assembly.

I may not be right but the 19X did not have the shorter frame of the 19 on the one sample I saw.

I wasn't as comfortable with the 48 compared to the 19X but I have larger hands.

Basically yes a standard Glock size grip like a 17/22, with a compact Glock slide/barrel length like that of a 19. I can shoot my Glock 19 well but I can shoot a 17 or my 19X just a little better/comfortably because the longer grip allows me to control the pistol slightly better. Even more so then a sub compact, slim line or any other very small or thin griped pistols

I wouldnt say I have a large hand but more on the M/L side rather then small

Looks like we will be seeing the G45 here late Q3 to early Q4, and that was confirmed from one of the Glock distributors last week.

The 48 is a great option, Recoil just did a great write up on the 19 and the 48, it's a good read.

At the end of the day, whatever fits your hand best, is likely going to be the best choice.

I made a mistake of bringing my g48 and my 9mm DW 1911 to the range yesterday. Shot the glock 2nd and after a mag went back to shooting the 1911...

I have small hands and the G48 fits them well.
Despite that I do see slightly faster split times with my G19. Not by a lot about 15% but enough to make a noticeable difference.
The G19 just soaks up recoil better with the fatter grip and heavier slide.

I bought a G48 about two weeks ago, I was down in Florida and rented a G48, G19, and G34 and the G48 to me was the best fit. 8 in the little red circle at about 30'.
The 34 and 19 feel awkward in my hands.

I have a 19X and love it. The 48 will likely be my next handgun depending on how much I like my Bersa 380 after I try it out.

I'm fond of the peanut butter guns for some reason... and the balance of the 19x just feels right to me. I find it less snappy and more controllable than the G17. Same grip but lighter slide coming back maybe?

Isn't the handle angle rake slightly different? Glock will monkey with the angles by a few degrees here and there (from model to model and generation to generation model depending)? I have a Gen 5 G17 and I don't shoot it well at all. Ironically, the G21 (.45acp) which is massive, and my G48 (the slimmest), I shoot very well?

I don't think the rake angle is different, but someone here can probably be definitive.

My own theory is that a big part of the difference you're talking about is from how the "Glock hump" fits your hand differently in each case. The three models you mention all have very different grip widths and front-to-back lengths, meaning the hump wants to rest in a different spot in your palm.

Not to mention the hump itself is differently shaped with each, and the triggers wind up having a different reach... Change one little thing about your grip, and everything else follows.
