My Chilean 1912 made by Steyr and rebarreled to 7.62N is sometimes very hard to eject the spent brass. There are no signs of over pressure and I handload mildly, except for some military rounds I have. Can't complain on accuracy even with old eyes. On some cases there is the slightest of shiny marks on the shoulder. Thinking of taking 000 steel wool and polishing the chamber. Just wondering what you guys think. Thanks

Sounds like a reasonable place to start.Do the cases chamber OK in the first place?

Thanks. Yes the cartridges chamber with no difficulties. The bolt locks up. There is no powder residue and primers stay in position, so it's not a safety issue, just a pain. Glad you guys agree so will try it out. I'm sure it won't take much.
