"Tour Of Duty" AR-15's telescopic stock & round ringed handguards

No the Colt XM-177-E2 had a telescoping stock and round handguard and was introduced in mid 1965,it later evolved in 1967 into the M773 Colt Commando.

as for more kills with a scope...sure at the range with no one shooting back you can aim but for the most part keep your ass down and fire in the direction of the enemy kept many USGI's alive

nope-it's an xm177or maybe a car15- i can't remember which ,but i got pics of special forces troops circa 1969 loaded on a chopper with car15s- the son tay raid-the "shorty" has been around almost as long as the regular rifle, being issed to special forces, dog handlers, and certain buddies of the quarter-master, and of course, captains and above- the newer generation with the round handguards and 1/7 twist barrel was about 85-86or so as i have a 1990 issue and the a2manual says 1985 copyright- and they were common by that date-the manual i have still has the first generation rear sight with the dial instructions, but i have the a2 h-bar but the skinny barrel- the a2 sporter
