Finally managed to round up half the deer-hunting gang to help me place this puppy in the swamp today. I wish someone had videotaped us trying to lift the completed framework into the holes, let's just say that the Three Stooges had nothing on us...

Placed it on the inside corner of right-angled drainage ditches, floor is 12ft from the ground. So far there's been plenty of deer sign #####-crossing the ditches, hope it stays that way for the next month.

Forgot to bring along a bubble-level :bangHead: but thankfully one of the guys had his iphone with a levelling app :D First time I've ever heard of this but it came in handy, the finished structures floor is apparently tilting by 2.9 degrees...

Thats roughly the way they're built around here, only we splay the bottom of the legs out for more stability. We don't enclose them either just a roof to keep the weather off you. Height can vary from 6' to 16' to the floor depending on whats needed.

Looks great. I hunt a few swamp spots like this and I always thought it would be good to get just a little bit higher off the ground to see into the thick stuff.

excellent work!;)

going to be buliding a few myself next summer at my parents farm, again lots of swamp area and need to get above the deer moose and bear:rolleyes:

Just need to cut a hole in the floor now about the size of a wiener so ya don't have to walk on a wet ladder.

Appreciate everyone's kind words.

How stable is that in the wind?

Only set it up yesterday, have to wait for a serious storm to really tell...

I appreciate all the advice and constructive comments guys.
It would have made more sense to maybe angle the legs at a 10 degree angle
but ease of construction was paramount so I took the simple route.

My only consolation is that the four main cedar trees in the corners are quite stout,
about 6"diameter at the base and dug down to a depth of 3'. In addition, I'm waiting for Princess Auto
to put some of their aircraft cable on sale so I can brace all four corners some distance away.

I would put some support that widens out the base. She looks like it would not take much to tip it over. Other than that right on.

If you buried the poles 3 feet down, its not going anywhere.
Do you sell it in a kit and how much is shipping to Peace River AB??

What if a 10ft griz smelled you up there and it was hungry. If the soil is sandy he could push it right over. Don't get me started about what a damn Samsquanch could do:D

My friend, if I were able to take the time off I would gladly show up to your beautiful part of the country and build it for you on the spot!
