Greetings i have this old Tower Cap lock musket ? Obviously cut down . There are some stamps/cartouche in the photos [J M ADAMS or J McADAMS]. The story behind this is : Sometime in the 1950's a friends dad was involved at Old Fort Henry Ontario, they were cleaning out an old store room and were about to throw this out so his dad kept it . It has been with this family since. I am interested in the rifle , the lock is tight and has a very strong spring , the barrel is rusty of course and you can see the general condition . Any input on the history, the model? has this been converted from flint ? etc Thank-you.

Yes Pattern 39 sporterized as "green" said.
I do have a full length 39" Pattern 39 Barrel in my antique parts pile. Nipple broke off, and tang tip off too, however rest is very good cond. Add to that project and half way to a full length Pattern 39 musket.
