TOZ-78 or TOZ-99 where to buy?

Nobody sells these new anymore I'm afraid, Armrus did but they closed a few years ago now. The closest thing you can buy new is the Winchester Wildcat, it's a Winchester version of the Toz-78. Wholesale sells them out here

Lot's of Toz 78's. I don't know if I'd pay $249 for one though.

Try the EE here, they appear quite often.
I also bought two 78's from Armrus - $100 plus tax and shipping, wish I had bought a dozen !
Bought a 99 on the EE, paid about $150 I think.
The 78's are fantastic rifles @ $100, good rifles @ $249. At that price there are a lot of other choices to consider.
That said, the 78 is the first rifle I grab from the rim fire colection when I want to go out back and have some fun.

As Iron Glove responded, most of those (including myself) that rave about them paid somewhere between $100 and $150 bucks when Armrus was in business. At that price they are an exceptional rifle and you can overlook things in the fit and finish that you wouldn't overlook in a $250 rifle.

I'd avoid the 99 .... Mine has had a broken sear after only about 200 rds fired and no hope of a replacement part so she has been a safe queen ever since. Seems that it is quite a common problem from some reseach that I did. The 78 on the other hand is as good as it gets for the price IMO.

x2 the Toz99 is a PITA, they break at low round count with no parts to be had. The Toz78 on the other hand is a nice light 22 with an adjustable trigger. If you can look past the bad finishing it's a very good rifle and most shoot like a laser. It was a steel at $100 bucks with four mags. Where your cut off point in terms of price is up to you. At the $200 point I'd say some other brands start to overtake it, but they may not shoot as well.;) But really at the $200 point I would put your money back in the bank and save for a CZ IMHO.:D

Guys,

The 78s we all bought from Armrus at the fire sale price of $100 are not exactly the same as the ones imported by BaikalCanada and sold in a number of stores at around $249.

The stock is different (with cheekrest), checkering and finish are much nicer (the action and barrel remain the same). In fact the newly imported Toz-78s are nicer than the Winchester Wildcat branded ones.

just my 2 Kopecks.
