TOZ 78 Project....

Winchester will be selling them as the "Wildcat 22"

It was introduced at the Shotshow in Las Vegas. Apart from a fancier stock, different sights and bolt handle, it is still the good old Toz-78.

oh yes.... just like the TOZ-78 .... but more then double the price:rolleyes:

I recently removed my front sight on my TOZ-78, I would like to know what muzzle break robertMcC installed.

anybody have an idea?

this is what it looks like now:

This is what he wrote in the PM

"I got it from willwagspal cost me ~20$ but the thing is that the barrel is a bit small. So its kinda loose. To get it tight I had to move it on the actual fat part of the barrel and it has only a few mm of actual FH potential. The SET screw provided sucks, its really soft and cannot torque it that much."

I was thinking of maybe getting a small sleeve made that would fit tight over the tip of the barrel. Seeing that the sleeve would have to be very thin to be flush with the barrel, I wouldnt mind if the diameter of the sleeve was slightly larger than the barrel itself. It would kinda look like a Weighted muzzle barrel.

measurements?

Goose .. just picked up my TOZ two days ago. Can you give me the diameter of the barrel where the sight used to be? What is the length of that section from the start of the front sight to the end of the barrel? I am thinking my machinist friend can do something for me out of aluminum .. then maybe some paint or get it anodized? What do you guys think? If it isn't too complicated, maybe he can spin off more than one .. :D

Why not just thread the end of the barrel ? It would take care of the problem, of course you wouldn't be able to put the original front sight back on, but that doesn't sound like a big deal in this case.

Hey Rob,

I like that idea .. I have NO gunsmithing skills, so I would have to have it done. Are you saying that there are more options to choose from if the end is threaded? OR am I way off and sounding like a knob here ..

:D

Well .... I doubt that there are any "standard" barrel attachments that would fit without some form of modification, but you could have one made (Anything from a fake "can" to a muzzle break/compensator to a flash hider) and it would be more solid than something that holds with set screws, of course it would only be an aestethic thing, as the .22 really doesn't benefit from a recoil compensator or flash hider (no recoil or flash to being with!).

Diametre is 9/16" and length is 1 7/8"

Where would I get it threaded? A gunsmith? A machinist? How much do you think it would cost?

Personally I'd go with a machinist on this one, as they would also be making whatever "accessory" you want to put at the end of your barrel. The threading part is easy, I can't see it costing more than 20 bucks. Fabricating the accessory is another matter however, depending on how elaborate you want it, sky's the limit there.

Thanks to all of you .. I am going to check with my machinist buddy and see what he can do. It is just a matter of looks as opposed to function, just want to hide what is left when the front site is removed. if you get mounts that are high enough, you need to remove the front site.

cheers!
