Toz Russian semi 22 any body got one do they function?

Mine is pretty good for fit and finish. It also hasn't had any problems with regular ammo, but as I said, it isn't a semi.

I just sold about 400 rounds of the steel cased Russian ammo to a collector. The stuff is a bit light but works ok. It's also a bit corrosive.

The toz99 tends to see the sear snap after a few hundred rounds. With spares parts virtually unobtanium, your mileage may vary. On the other hand if you have both the knowledge and the equipment to make your own parts, they're great little guns.

I have a Toz-99 semi since 2004.

I love it because I bought it cheap, I use cheap ammo and it performed so far flawlessly.

I use the dirt cheap Winchester wildcat ammo. The gun performs great with these. If you buy a Toz semi, don't use expensive or too powerfull rounds. Lots of fun.

I have two TOZ 99's both with broken sears; a very poor design as they are very small and made from powdered metal, and I'm unable to get replacement parts. If you do get one make sure you fire standard velocity or subsonic ammo only as I'm sure firing high velocity ammo did them in.

Mine just looks like cheap, mild steel.

I wonder is it would be more durable is somebody would make one out of something like spring steel or some other material that can bend a little before breaking.

I thought about trying to have some made at a machine shop but they would be extremely expensive as they are so small, has to machined to a specific unknown angle, and have a tiny pinhole drilled through. They need to be solid steel as there isn't any bending involved, just holding the firing pin mechanism back but the powdered metal doesn't have the strength with it being weakened by the pinhole.
RobSmith: mine looked like steel until they broke; I hope your is an upgraded machined sear if they made them.

KFN , do you still have those, I have not see inside one of these,
may be a good winter project making sears.
A picture of one?

A mistake on my little doodle has been pointed out by a few comrades here, so I went ahead and checked some of my measurements.
I was unable to unpin the sear, and the depth of the hole for spring is only a guestimate. The spring itself looks like it could be fashioned from a mechanical ballpoint pen, but the actual length and stiffness are unknown for the above mentioned reasons.

If you have any more Politically Correct questions, I will do my best to answer them in accordance with Policy of Standards and Norms.

for the people who have failed toz 99s, do you have the one from kodiak sport or the old batch from another importer a couple years ago?(obviously the one above is the old one, but Im referring to the rest of you).

Toz 14

I have a bolt action TOZ 14 and let me tell ya that its really an accurate little varminter. It has peep sight and is deadly accurate every time.

The 14 is pretty rare too,i've never seen another one like mine yet and never heard of another owner living close by.

I'll try and post some pics when i get my camera this week end.

Do you mean they are now "New And Improved?" like Crest toothepaste.Tula Arsenals don't tend to change things much from one century to the next.

I recently bought a TOZ-99 from Kodiak Outpost. Good lookin' gun, trigger's a little heavy, decently accurate. Cranked off about 200 rounds through it so far. No problems to date.

That looks like it should not be to hard to make,
I'm thinking old truck spring, course it would be
a file and fit type of thing, when nothing else to
do.
