I just aquired the above rifle from a coworker he just wanted gone from his home .rifle is in reasonably good shape . How ever the rear sight is missing . From google pics it would appear that the rear sight would be tangant style adjustable sight . Is there a source for parts .

If it's like the one I had, it is a tangent style, elevation adjustable only. Windage is adjustable by drifting the front sight left-right.
Super accurate rifle, one of the best shooters I've owned.
Parts may be difficult to find. I'd suggest trying a want ad for a complete rifle or just the sight.

There is a chance that many of these rifles are missing the rear sights because they interfere with a mounted scope. That's why I removed the one I bought new in '77. It got lost in one of my many moves since then. :(

Google toz 17 images. Many pictures of these rifles with the rear sights still on them.

I put a Williams peep sight on it about 10 years ago. Much better than the original function wise.

Like Chilly807 said, super accurate, especially scoped. I used to shoot grass hoppers at 50 yards with mine.

Decided to remove the rear sight block . Well not possible as it is dove tailed and pinned to the barrel . Barrel would need to be removed in order to remove the sight block .

Yep, that sounds familiar. I temporarily removed part of the rear sight to mount a scope on mine. I'd say the previous owner of your rifle did the same thing but misplaced the parts.
The barrel may be pinned (probably) or threaded (possibly) in place, but I have no idea how hard it would be to remove to get the sight mount off the barrel.
