I am in the market for some rings and bases for a new precision rifle. Anyone out there use TPS rings or bases. How do rate vs a Badger Ordnance, Near Mfg, Mark 4 etc base or ring. The only reason I ask is TPS is quite a bit cheaper than say a Near or Badger. I already have a Near tapered base on a rifle and I think the Near base is the best out there but they are 199 bucks as well. But you get what you pay for. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I just put a set on my Remington 700VS and they seem to work great. I don't see any problems with them and they are simple to work with.

If you read TPS website and talk with their techs(which I did) there is absolutely no need to lap the rings. When I installed my rings and placed my optic within I could hear and feel a distisct "pop" as the scope nested into the rings. The optic was a bugger to move for and aft without the top of the rings in place. Can't beat that for quality. The aluminum rings are stronger than the steel rings. TPS tested their rings with 25,000 G's of force. Upon which the lock nut backed off. No damage to the rings, just a loose fit after. I doubt any of us will ever experience 25,000 G's worth of acceleration from our rifles.

I know a guy that sells anything you want him to bring in and you can pay for the expensive stuff but I'd go TPS all day long. Be it on my 50, 338L Ackley Improved, AR, M14. I wouldn't spend the money on Nightforce, MK4s, Badger if you can get them. PM me if you want a pair of TPS; I'll hook you up. As far as lapping goes, the rings are directional but if you really want to have them lapped, material will come off. I tried it when I installed my Nightforce scope just because. Bottom line, they're not a sloppy set of rings and I am using them on everything I own.

I have used TPS Rings and they are very well made and a great "bang" for your buck.I like them better then Mark 4s.

If they had 34mm rings at the time I needed a set, I probably would have gone that route.Instead I had to go with Badger Ordnance 34mm rings.......

Just installed a set on my Rem 700 and ordered 2 more sets. Outstanding quality and no need to lap those in. The scope I installed never fit better in a set of rings. I like them better than the Leupold Mark 4's also. Picatinny bases available in 0 or 20 MOA that extend slightly in the front. Perfect for some scopes that need a little extra up front.:)
