Anyone know what the story is with regards to shooting/reloading the Berger 155.5gr fullbore for Target Rifle(sling)? a couple years ago I ended up with 200 of these in a trade, just finally looking at them.
I just put on a new barrel, Lapua 155gr scenars are right on 2.820" coal touching rifling, but these 155.5gr bergers are 2.965" by the time they touch rifling, very long.
So, do people who shoot these just jump them a lot(.150"), hang onto them by barely .12" or so, go somewhere in between, or use a special chamber with pretty much zero freebore at all to get around 2.80 COAL? (which wouldn't pass a gauge test at say bisley...) just curious what the strategy is with these.

thanks

I have an Obermeyer chamber and jump Berger's .020". I know a few people that are jumping them .040". Obermeyer chambers will pass the Bisley 150 rule. Forget about 2.800" unless you are loading the rifle from a mag. Berger VLD's need to be touching or jammed, 155.5 fullbore to not need to be jammed.

The 155.5's (pointed) are my go to bullet for F Class in a 11" twist barrel (12" would work fine). Most competitors use Varget for this bullet, but I prefer AR Comp. I have used N150 previously with good success, but both Varget and N150 seemed a bit slower. I jump them about 10 to 20 thou, using 308 Win Palma brass. The bearing surface is about 120 thou and the neck tension is about 1.5 thou. They use about .1 to .2 MOA more wind than a non-pointed 185 Juggernaut at a grand. I find they are very easy to tune.
