TR Shooters, can you educate me on these sights?

I recently bought a rifle with a Swing action and some TR sights. I've had a Swing before, but shot it in F/TR. I know nothing about these iron sights, could somebody fill me in on their make ( I assume Anschutz because it's engraved on the silver ring? ) Are they usable for TR if I ever wanted to try it?

This is supposed to be a picture of where it says Anschutz on the silver ring, but the flash hid most of it.

Is the body made from stainless steel, or is it blued steel?

If blued, it's likely a "Central" sight, which is made in Australia. They were sold in Canada by Bob Barwise (so pretty local to you!).

A very-similar looking sight, a bit bulkier than the Central, is a "Radar", which has stainless steel arms.

The eyepiece is a separate part from the sight. Gehmann and Anschutz both make eyepieces. That one looks like it has a variable sized iris, and it also has a rubber eye cup added. More elaborate eyepieces can also include a "diopter" (about a 1.5X magnifying element, with adjustable focus), colour filters, polarizers, etc.

The front sight you have there is a 19mm diameter Anschutz. It uses steel insert elements (you ought to have a set of half a dozen inserts, perhaps ranging from 2.5mm diameter to 3.6mm diameter)

This sight would certainly be useable for TR shooting. Nowadays we are permitted to use "Eagle Eyes", which is a lens in our front sight that provides a small amount of magnification. More important than the magnification is the fact that it brings the target image and the front sight element closer to being in the same focal plane, so it is easier to get both the front sight and the target into (near) simultaneous focus.

I just removed the rubber part and noticed that the eyepiece ( I think I'm referring to the right part, it's the all black round part ) says "J.G. Anschutz GmbH ULM West Germany". The rest of it appears to be stainless ( the part with the threaded rod and dials), it also has C.P.T. stamped on it on the pieces of metal with the numbers. On the vertical piece of metal it's stamped 7.62 on the bottom and then he numbers on the left go from 2 up to 11 and the numbers on the right side of the vertical piece go from 0 to just over 80.

OK, it's an Anschutz eyepiece. And likely a Radar sight (I'll have a look at mine and see if I can confirm/refute this).

The "7.62" and numbers from 2 to 11 mean that for a 7.62 military ball round, those are (approximately) the elevations you need from 200 yards to 1100 yards.

On the other side of the elevation scale, the markings are in MOA. There's a hash mark every five minutes.

There is also a vernier, which is used to read to the nearest 1/4 MOA.

Each click of the elevation or windage knob moves the sight 1/4 MOA.

The front sight is an older 18mm Anshutz. You can buy an adjustable iris for it, however the tread is now to go with bigger front sights with 30mm tubes.
