Tracks - wolf?

Dog. Way too big for a western coyote, and H4831 is correct about foot placement. Wolves generally don't show district toenail prints like that, they wear their toenails short with all the walking they do. Also, wolves don't drag a paw when walking on a road. My Pudlepointer has feet that size, so do other breeds of full size dogs.

But those aren't very distinct claw marks, to my way of thinking. Not like a pet at all.

Not very likely there would be any "live" dogs where I was walking. At several places the tracks either went off the road into the bush or out of the bush on to the road. My guess is wolf.

H4831: good thing you retracted that "old". I'm just a kid. :p. Just look at my avatar!

That avatar doesn't look like the spry young fellow that bought me coffee at a restaurant a couple of different years!

Have personally seen wolves north of Gravelbourg and one south of Beechy. They are starting to show up all over. A guy shot one out of a pack of 8 about 5 miles as the crow flys from where the gunnutz gopher shoot is held every spring. All these moose and elk running around on the praries is bringing the apex predators along with them. Cougar sightings are happening from border to border in southern Sask these days.
