I've always wanted a 226, but didn't have the cash, so I bought an M&P40 new.

Love it to death, but I still want the Sig. Saved the dough and put a 226 Equinox in 40 on order; sold the M&P. Have never fired a Sig before, I just wanted it. Someone tell me I didn't make a mistake and give up a superb firearm for something less.

Objectively, there's no doubt that P226 is a much better gun. Subjectively... everyone has different preferences. The only way to find out if a gun suits you is to try shooting it. Having said that, most people find Sig very easy to shoot well, so I doubt you;ll be missing your M&P.

iv owned both, both are great guns, and great shooters. to say one is better then the other, is a matter of opinion to which you will have to make your own

There is nothing wrong with what you did. The Sig has a better fit and finish. I find the Sig to be more accurate as well. With that being said, I think the M&P is a fine gun for the price point.

I disagree... all personal opinion though... Sig is like holding a milk jug...

Well, you should have checking P229 first and "feel" it. Some people don't like the handle...

Thx 4 all the input so far guys; I know i should've at least held a sig first, but I'm an "ignore the gut and make foolish impulse decisions" kinda guy! I guess when the 226 comes in, I'll know for sure....... I might just have to buy another m&p...
