trade-ex shotguns

Hey fellas..

I've been looking around for a new to me shotgun and checked out trade ex website, they seem to have a lot of good looking SxS/O-U shotguns for a reasonable price, but I'm having a hard time finding any info.. I really always liked the looks of a O/U over a SxS, so here's a few i've been looking at..

So are these used shotguns well made? there much difference between model ect? any info would be great. I tried a search but its been pretty much useless for me for the past few weeks
 
I don't think that BRNO ever made any crappy guns. I've never seen one if they have but I don't have any specific experience with their shotguns.

Baikal aren't top of the line European guns and I've only really used ones that were made over 20 years ago. The ones that I do use real pretty decent.

The guys at Tradeex are really good about responding to email and whenever I've asked even the simplest questions they send a bunch of good pics. One of my favorite online dealers.
 
I've owned several of the Brno's over the years and they are a tough gun. Not pretty but held up well for skeet, trap and sporting and the one three barrel set I had a 16 gauge barrel set for field use. The ZH101 would be a field model and the ZH301 should be newer version field model . I posted some info on here before on them.

Hi ... this is from an old Pragotrade (BRNO) catalogue I said I would scan for another person on the site...it pertains to the ZH series O/U ... note the barrels are identified as ZH 301, ZH 302 etc rather than ZH 101, ZH 102 that yours are marked but it looks like the last digit correlates with your barrels
eg. the ZH 302 in the catalogue has what look like little flash suppressors on the end of both tubes... according to the catalogue the ZH 302 are 2 3/4 chambers "12/12 (skeet)" 26inch with a "Choke (% of pattern on a 75 cm target at 35 m) 60-65%"

the ZH 303 is shown as "12/12 (trap) and a choke of "70%" using the same criteria re the % pattern etc


other barrels were ZH 301 (field) eg "60-70%"; ZH 304 7x57R/12 (60-70%);
ZH 305 5.6x52R/12 (60-70%); ZH 306 5.6x50R Mag/12 (60-70%); ZH 311 16/16 Field and ZH 324 7x57R/16 field

According to the catalogue...
"Another valued feature of this gun is in the engineering of the trigger system. An interrupter situated near the rear trigger permits the rear trigger to act as a single trigger in the sequence lower barrel - upper barrel. The front trigger can fire the upper barrel only. Only the rear trigger is used during shooting matches to fire both barrels in rapid succession. The front trigger can be equipped with an optional set trigger allowing the upper (rifle) barrel to fire at a touch."

forgetting the set trigger which you likely do not have as it pertains to rifle shotgun combo barrels...IT IS IMPORTANT TO READ THE PART ABOUT THE REAR TRIGGER... eg if you pull it once and fire the lower barrel...REMEMBER THAT IF YOU PULL IT A SECOND TIME YOU WILL FIRE THE UPPER BARREL IF LOADED.... you want to be careful about this in the field...a neat feature -- if you or any one else using the gun understands it properly!!!

i got to handle a brno shotgun at a gun show . it belonged to tradeex.a very smooth opening shotgun .it was a used gun over under. i was impressed with the quality.it almost followed me home.
 
I bought a Bailkal 12g O/U from them that was great, regret selling it infact. Had the old english stock, it's only issue was it was choked full over full, great for hunting but that was it.
 
I've bought two Husqvarna SxS from them,both were as usual under rated as to condition. I've never gotten anything from Trade Ex that was not better than expected. Valmet made some very good things in their day,and firearms were one of them. They rate right up there with the other two Finnish makes.
