Trade Ex

*Ahems* I do not like Trade Ex. Thier prices, I find, are exorbantly high. Much better to seek out someone here to trade or buy from, I find that my contacts here on CGN have outclassed pretty much every gun shop sale and gun show purchase I have ever done.

Ordered parts on Tues arrived today and they arrived today, Friday. Excellent service. It is possible to get better deals but do not count on it.

The prices look pretty good to me.

As for not liking the SVT-40? SVT-40, STG-44, MG34, MG42 and the odd other machine gun are the only milsurps that I like.

Seriously what's not to like about a semi auto short piston, tilting block design (Same as used in the FN-FAL) with a 10 round (pinned to 5) detachable magazine? Personally I think these rifles kick a@@. Try buying a modern semi auto with those features for anywhere near that price.

When you think about what was being fielded on the Eastern front back in WWII it's fairly scary. They had some very advanced stuff for the time. The allies were very lucky those weapons and the soldiers were tied up on that front.

The last prices I have seen were $400 for a SVT-40, $300 plus for a TT-30 (with one mag) and sorry, I have no clue in regards to the Enfield as I don't buy guns where ammo is over $1/round.

I doubt you can find a SVT-40 for that price anywhere, all other dealers are over $400 now.

Geez, a few bucks here and there is nothing compared to good service. My TT-33 either had a broken firing or or broke it on the first round at the range. Trade Ex sent me one gratis immediately no questions asked. I would buy from them again in a second if they have what I want. In fact, those Lee Enfields are terribly tempting...

Then I appologise. I spoke in haste and was not aware of thier service. I merely judged upon how whenever you go on thier site, they often are sold out of most everything unless someone has links I'm missing?

Drachenblut, please don't take this as flame. You seem to be very much like a dear friend of mine that spends more money looking around for a deal than he would have spent buying the original rifle he wanted. Sometimes it's just cheaper and easier to go with the deal in front of you than run around looking.
I see this quite a bit on this site. People complain about prices at their local shop. They buy over the internet, because the advertised price is cheaper. They forget about shipping costs, money order costs etc. 9 times out of ten, it's cheaper to buy it at the local shop.
Tradex is very reasonable and has stuff that most shops don't carry.

I shop around, like you, because I like to deal and like to have the item I buy in my hands, not always mind you but normally. I like to participate in gun shows and go to them as well. The class of people you meet there, varies but by and large the vast majority of them are great.

As mentioned above, Tradex is up front and honest. They stand behind every one of their sales, no questions asked.

I agree on all points bearhunter. You are totally correct and thus is why I appologised. In truth, the only reason I do not buy from my local shop is I have no local shop, living in the middle of nowhere has it's dissadvantages. Also, I do not go trucking around for "deals" and I can agree, buying directly locally is always a better option. My last purchase was from the esteemed Ellwood Epps in fact. I enjoy gun shows for the company and the firearms as well, however I have found in my experiences that the people there are in it to make a profit, more so than to pass on history to the next generation. I do not blame them of course, it IS a buisness. I have, sadly, gone through my share of hardships (bad bores, hidden cracks etc) buying rifles. Though, I have looked into Tradex and found that as you said, they have a real Ironclad guarantee. As for the deal part, I am still a mere University student, and need to find deals. Though I would love a Semi-Auto FG-42, I do not have $10,000. Please do not take anything I say as flame, it is not meant as such, merely clearing my point that yes, tradex is cool, and yes buying locally is cool too. I think we can all agree, though, is everything is going up in price.

I guess that's twice you spoke in haste. "Sold out of most everything?". The only things listed are what is in stock. In your haste, did you mix them up with someone else? Do you expect them to carry every firearm and component ever made, so if it's not listed, it's "Sold Out"?

There are many people who have bought and sold many times more items than you, who regularly speak to their good prices and excellent service. Sure you can find great deals on the EE, but it's all about timing (and often luck), same applies to gun shows, auctions, newspaper ads, word of mouth, etc. That's no reason to "not like" a vendor.

The "in it to make a profit, more so than to pass on history to the next generation" type of comment comes up quite a bit to my surprise. Am I to re-sell everything I have at the same or lesser price than I bought it for, otherwise I am betraying the brotherhood? If I bought a gun for $200 five years ago and it's now going for $500 that's what I'll sell it for - if I don't, the next owner will.

One of my shortcomings is that I regularly stick up for vendors, like Tradex, even (gasp!) Marstar. Fact is, these for profit companies do more for us gunowners than most groups of 1000 individual gunowners.

I just got rid off all my 54R stuff ammo got to expensive...

Same goes for the No4

Just to expensive to shoot ....

as Far as Trade ex goes... They are one of my favs... Never had a problem... Even the 139$ M44 that I got from them was just plain perfect

Trade Ex only shows what they stock, others have a big web site and a lot of stuff may be sold out but possibly restock at some point. I think it is important to always compare prices carefully, as an example, I always find great deals at gun shows but also many overpriced stuff. You really have to know the current market price.

Trade Ex SVT-40 for $299 is a super deal for such a beautiful rifle (I have enough ammo and I am sure that there is still a lot floating around), the TT-3 with 2 mags for $199 is great too, I have seen them for over $300 with one mag at some dealers, the Enfield is probably in the same range.

Or look over to Marstar with their new shipment of JW-103 and 105 coming up, you can't beat that $275 price, in fact, many people paid over $400 just recently if you do a google search.

In general I agree with you, there are many great deals on the EE, probably even more now in the winter time.

Re Trade Ex. Their prices are always competitive and their stock selection can be impressive. Although I have yet to purchase a firearm from them, I have purchased bayonet, holsters, webbing and other milsurp items. They return your emails and are always helpful. In my opinion Trade Ex is a fine supporter of the CGN community as are other vendors listed in the banner.

I called today and couldn't get anyone so I left a message... I also emailed them. I didn't get a reply yet? are they closed on saturdays?... I want to jumb on that SVT-40 deal!!!
