Trade in at a store or try private?

If you won the rifle, why not go back to the store, where it was purchased and ask to trade it for another of the same quality/cost, chambered for a round you would be happier with.

I agree with SuperCub, for what that's worth. Selling and especially shipping firearms is a great big PITA, all the more so if you are new to this. Yes, you will likely take a haircut at a gun store, but you can be reasonably certain that the legal BS is followed and you are not putting your butt on the line. Just sayin'

The retail option, you're going to probably lose 30-40% of it's value.
Yes................that was what I said. He trades it at a gun store, he takes a haircut. No gun store is going to swap a thousand dollar rifle for a thousand dollar rifle. But it is still a best option for a person who is new to firearms deals. JMOYMV

As previously mentioned, selling on EE is a pain in the butt now days with shipping unless it's in person. I would try another option. After all, you will end up with more than what you had.
If you use the EE you will likely need to do a face to face sale as you haven't yet got a trader rating plus you you don't have the bother of shipping which involves getting a small business account at Canada post. I can't remember if you need x number of posts to join the EE or not but you can check in the EE info thread.
