my 6.5x55 [the 7th-I think, thats 4 in 6.5x55 and 3 more in 9.3x57]arrived this morning-I bought it strictly because it had a Norma peep sight[about as common as hens' teeth].Anthony described the bore was ''good''-not excellent[looked excellent to me] and warned me there was a crack behind the tang[I'll need a magifying glass to see it]The metal work and bluing are in good shape-the swedes knew how to build rifles..

Since the rifle is already ''sporterized''[ I refuse to call it ''bubba'd] I;ll sand out the dings, probably slim down and reshape the forstock to give it a schnable front end,and take enough wood off the buttstock below the disk-then spend a lot of time rubbing and oiling to bring up the nice walnut stock....they come up absolutely gorgeous.....

for $260 this is about as good value as you can get anywhere-plus the opportunity to do what I like doing-refinishing and polishing old rifles

Too late-its lost its virginity-the barrel has already been cut and crowned. But you're right-if the metal work hasn't been cut-its not too hard to desporterize

Does the peep sight look like this?

thats the one-I understand they can be either ''Norma'' or ''Helqvist''.The one I bought today has ''Norma'' on the side-my other one on the 9.3x57 doesn't have a name on it

I saw that-Sellior and Bellot loads 9,3x62 but not 9,3x57,so that leaves Norma which is pricy. When I got my9,3x57,I started handloading.47 gr of IMR4064 and 286 gr Privipartizans.Haven't chrono'd them but I suspect I'm getting around 2000 fps, which is plenty good for moose.
