Received my Husky .22 yesterday from TradeEx - $130 to the door w/GST and shipping.

I have never been so pleased at a gun deal as this one. What an extraordinary, solid little rifle. It has a lovely heft to it, and is very "old school" - all walnut and excellent steel, with all markings in a classy c. 8 point font.

It even has that "old gun smell" - kind of a musty/leathery thing. Brings back a lot of memories.

The damn thing oozes quality. Once I've had a chance to clean up the stock with a little Murphy's Oil Soap and smooth out some of the faint rustiness with fine steel wool and some oil, I'll post pix.

Well worth the money. Hell, well worth twice the money. Get 'em while they have 'em.

OK, OK... Here you go. She's pretty simple and a bit grubby, but this'll give you an idea of what they look like when they show up.

In short, this is the classiest zipgun you will ever own. I'm curious to see what it'll do at the range. One small issue - whoever owned it really liked to lob 'em out there to 100 meters, and the rear sight has taken a set, so there's some slack at any setting below 100. Shouldn't be hard to fix - pull the rear sight, flex it back some, tuck it back in...

A sweet little rifle, and well worth the money. I'll post some more pix once she's been cleaned up and shot some...

So how does it shoot?

I'm interested in making a project gun and I'm curious to see how these shoot as they are?
 
Haven't shot it yet - probably won't get out until the ling weekend. I'll keep you posted.

FWIW, it's such a simple system, and the bore is so good, I can't see the damn thing not shooting really well.
 
Took my two to the range tonight. They are sighted for weaker ammo; although I was only shooting at 25. Nice groups, and about an inch high. My sights indicate 50, 100 and 200 like yours, and at the fifty setting, an inch high at 25.

The octagonal barrel is slick; safety works automatically with each shot. I got another with a round barrel, and about 2 inches longer. Nicer finish, but not as slick working (different safety system)

Impressive little 22s.

What's the trigger like on these? Adjustable? Light or Heavy? Creep?
Is the trigger simple to work on?

I'm thinking of getting a couple and making them into "target" rifles with peep sights and the like.

Would one of you guys be able to post some pictures of the receiver removed from the stock and the trigger group?

Sounds more and more like I just need to buy one to find out....

Can't say from the pictures, but depending on stock design, you have either a Salongsgevär 55 or 65.

Pisst pics of the entire rifle and I can tell you wich it is. I can also provide year of manufacture with S/N. Post the S/N less the two last digits (replace by XX)

No adjustable triggers on these older rifles.
 
I "bit the bullet" and bought one too. Should get it this week.

Probably a good project gun - I'm planing on making it into a 25 yd open sighted target gun. We'll see.

I'll post a range report when I get it.

Got mine last week and shot it this weekend.

I took it all apart on Sunday and I have to admit I'm quite impressed with the design and simplicity of it. And it shoots!

There was some hidden rust on the safety spring and some marks here and there, but some TLC and steel wool took care of that.

The stock on mine is a hidden gem. It didn't look like much at first, but after a good cleaning with Windex (can you believe it??) it came right up. A beautiful piece of wood.

I took it to the range on Monday and was quite impressed. Not a single misfire despite what appears to be light firing pin strikes. A couple of FTE on American Eagle (these rifles like standard velocity ammo though - forget about HV) but nothing major.

I was getting some really good groups at 25 yds (sub 1") and about 2" at 50 yds with the open sights with Winchester Dynapoints. Not anything to write home about, but it shows some serious potential.

Trigger was about 2.5 lbs but had lots of creep. It can be worked on to solve some of that and I should be able to lower pull as well just by polishing and working the single spring...It's not bad at all.

Mine's got a bent bolt handle and it's pretty slick to use with a short bolt throw.

I'm going to put some peep sights on it and glass bed it, and give it another go!

Very solid, well made and very light. It's a fun rifle and for the price, very much worth it.

I'm glad I bought one.
 
Finally shot mine, and I believe I may be in love. Very accurate, with occasional hits on 1 gallon milk jugs out to c. 175 yards.

It does seem to want to hit quite high - even with standard velocity Winchester Super X stuff and the back sight cranked down to "20", it was flingin' 'em in about 8 inches high at 25. I may be looking for a taller front sight.

I measured the Length of Pull (distance from trigger to butt) as 13 3/4" on mine.
I've got one of the rounded pistol grip styles (not the straight English style). It fits me just fine (6'0" tall).

I find that the stock is well suited for sighting along the barrel and is perfect for open sights.

This rifle is nice and light and would make for a perfect first gun for a beginner. You may want to cut down the stock a little bit, but for the price it's not a big deal.

After reading your post, I ordered one around the first of this month. Mine was described as having rust that should clean up, which was the sort of project I was looking forward to. It arrived with the tip broken off the extractor though, which was a bit more than I was counting on. Anyways, I contacted tradex, and they sent me another complete bolt which I received today. The replacement bolt has a reworked/bent handle which I'd sooner have the straight original, but it also will not close in the gun. So I am hoping I can switch out the extractors without too much difficulty. Has anyone had the bolt apart on one, that would be willing to give me a little walk-through on how to go about it? My temporary extractor is a Leatherman Micra, which works okay, but is a little slow.

In the meantime, I've shot the thing and it shoots quite well, though a little high. With the sight on 20 yds., and using subsonic ammo, it isn't too bad. I'm looking forward to getting some steel wool and seeing if the octagon barrel will clean up
 
I am contemplating buying one of these rifles, too. Can anybody please tell me how long are the barrels and how much does yours weight?

I was originally thinking of buying one as a first rifle for my son, but if the barrels are too long, I might just get it for grouse shooting. Sub-sonics and long barrels make for a very quiet grouse killing combination. ;)

Also, has anybody gotten one of the heavy barreled ones? What are your impressions? Accuracy, balance, weight?

I've got the cylindrical barrel not the octagon one. It's a little bit heavier barrel than my CZ452 (sporter) but definitely smaller than the .920 10/22 barrels. I'm not sure it that's the heavier barrel version or not.

I wanna say it's about 24-25" long but I've got to measure it to be exact.
I wouldn't say it's too long for a son (if you didn't cut down the stock and he wasn't carrying it around in the bush)

Weight is pretty light. I wanna say under 3 lbs, but again no scale.

I didn't take my bolt apart, as I haven't been able to figure out how to do that yet - and documentation is pretty scarce on these rifles...

I'm not 100% confident in my extractor either but it seems to work better with different types of ammo than others. Not sure how to replace it or tweak it.

Mine also shot high. With everyone describing the same thing, I guess it's not just the way I was configuring the sight picture. I'm replacing the sights with peeps on mine anyways which should correct everything.

I love how this thread is rolling with more people getting these rifles - let's develop some expertise and keep the info flowing so we can all learn from each other!
