True, but don't forget many are over 100 years old. Depending on the rifle's year and manufacture I guess some could be rough. I bought my 1912 Mauser in .308 there. Since they were re-barreled in '61 and put in reserve the bores are like new. Older ones with original calibers may not be. But it's probably way better than most new 308's on the market today. Except for the sights, unless you're eyes are up to it.

Hm, on the one hand, a $250 gun, a half-hour in the garage, and $10 worth of cotton/solvents/brushes/steel wool/wood oil. On the other hand, a similar new rifle for double that or more, often not as solidly made.
Lots of people will go for number 1.
Placed an order for one of the Husqvarna 1600 in 6.5x55 yesterday, excited to get it... how long do you think it will take, do you think I should call them to see if it's shipped...

And I have heard many gun experts comment that if a Mauser service rifle equal to the quality of many of the South American contract rifles were made today the cost would be in excess of $2000 per rifle.
I'm really happy with my Trade-ex guns too. I bought a sporterized M98 in 8x57, for $275 with what was classed a "very good bore"....damn, that bore looks brand new. Worn bluing but no pits, and a hideous stock that just may have been attacked by a beaver. It'll have a new stock and peep sights eventually, and I want to try rust bluing. I toyed with the idea that it would make a great 7x57 if I ever wanted to get some gunsmithing done, but if that barrel shoots as good as it looks, that seems kind of foolish. It will just be my "30-06" for the moose hunt that i will probably never go on.

There's a Tikka M65 in 6.5x55 for sale on tradex...I think its been shortened a bit...either way someone should grab it. I love mine...one of my few never sell guns.
