Tradex has a large selection of Schultz and Larson .22s again...

Rusty extractor on my second rifle. It was solid no movement at all. Took the bolt apart got a sandwich ziplock baggie and sprayed in some Aero Kroil. Zipped the bag shut and let the bolt sit for a couple of days ( worked the extractor back and forth couple of times) all is good now

Well I cleaned the gun where you guys mentioned. Amazing amount of crap in there. Fuzzy and solid stuff. I'll take it out again tomorrow for a try out. I had it in the box ready to be shipped back but it is kind of a neat gun for the money. I think I could get used to the peep sights. Thanks for the tips.

GL. Hope it works now. :)

It definitely sounds like this could have been your problem.

The crud in there, prevented the extractor and bolt from fully closing up tight and getting into proper position,, which would also cause the issues with your deformed/split shell casings and extraction.

22 ammo is extremely dirty stuff to fire as you probably already know. Throw in years of this, maybe minimal cleaning plus storage for yrs?

Here's a pic of my dirty chamber area. I haven't fired her yet. I just started cleaning this area now. Lots of lead buildup or similar junk scraped from around the edge of the barrel where it meets the receiver. And omg ya, that extractor groove is filthy,, already removed a pile of crap out of it but more to go.

Well I went to the range again. I had better luck with the balloon problem. There still is an issue but not like before. There is a slight bulge just at the rim, like the bbl is not the right size. The gun shot well again, most groups would fit under a quarter. The gun failed to extract a single brass though. I tried some Remington lead rounds and bad news. I got hot flakes back in my face and the bbl was big time dirty after. I'm throwing out this ammo. It was accurate but really dirty. I called it a day. I guess I'll keep the gun, it isn't perfect but I'll have enough fun with it to make it worth the cost.

Hey, I picked up a good+ Schultz and Larsen single shot target rifle in 22lr from Tradeex last year, and had it D&T'ed for scope base by a gunsmith, free floated (partly, because there is a locking screw in the middle of the barrel) and glass bedded it roughly by myself, and succeeded in the challenge of 1 MOA at 50M. See the post:

Successfully found an adapter to mount an adjustable iris....gunsmith had one in the parts bin so I lucked out. These Centra diopters are on for $30 at Brownell's so it wasn't an expensive venture....

I'm thinkin' Danish Rifles need Danish Oil!

First two coats are on, but I couldn't wait to see how she looks all put together...

I also had problems trying to get the front swivel out, so I worked around it. Had a seized extractor, but managed to get it out after soaking it in brake cleaner.
Managed to get it cleaned up and it works perfectly now. But I didn't follow my own advice and dismantle it in a bag. The extractor spring flew out, but I found it luckily.

Mine has the plastic knob as well.
It has a "B" carved in it...........................former owner's name "Bjorn"?

Heading out this morning to try it at 50 meters. Hopefully it does OK. I'm going to use my hoarded Dynapoint GT Target ammo first.
See pg 11 for results at 25 meters

Well, tried mine at 50 meters today.
Mixed results!

Best group (49, 3x) was 5/8" with Winchester Dynapoint GT Target. The other groups ran to about 1". I shot 4 groups with this ammo, 2 groups with the other ammo that I tried today.
Poorest group (pattern) was with Winchester X-Pert bulk pack. about 2.5"
Federal Automatch was around 1.5", Federal American Eagle (plated) was about the same.

I used Official NRA, 50 yd smallbore targets today.
