Tradex has a large selection of Schultz and Larson .22s again...

The sales man told me it had a front sight insert but the picture doesn't support this. What are my options for a front sight if mine has the insert gone? There are different ones available I guess?

Anschutz fit, but it will have one, don't worry. Any precision shop will have them, or Brownell's

Looking into the rear peeps and found this thread.

Looks like the m70 sights have 6x0.75mm fine threads, and pre-m70 have 6x1.0mm course. The m70 is the same as CZ target sights and replacement peeps and an adapter to use Anschutz/Gehmann adjustable iris diopters can be found here.

I will try and confirm the thread pitch tonight on my m70, can one of you with the older versions check the threading on yours.

Some surprises there if you look close....this one is a 33 in the updated 70 stock. You can see the extractor is on the left side, and it has the dovetail front sight but updated 70 rear sight.

Are those good surprises or bad surprises? That happens to be the rifle I have on hold...

Interesting surprises? Lol.
Not good or bad, I think the older versions are kind of neat. Shouldn't be any difference in performance but they won't have the adjustable trigger, not that it matters as JimDo's came in at 12oz....

I kept looking at the picture of the gun I bought (300007) and didn't see the removable part on the front sight. I called the salesman and he told me it was there. I just called again and my gun does not have a removable front sight. The front sight size cannot be changed like the one that has the part that turns. I guess we had a communication error, we were talking but not communicating. Or the guy knew the difference and just didn't tell me.

Can you owners advise me if this is a big deal? The gun is gone in the mail so it is too late to change it. I'm wondering what my options are? I guess the idea is the different size front sights are used to assist in matching the target and sight, so the sight covers the target. Thanks.

Can you post a pic?
OK found it ...looks like an older m33 in an m70 stock. Front sight looks smaller then the others, might be a Lyman? Check it out when you get it, I'm sure tradex or one of the members can help you out with an insert or cap if it's missing. I have a few spares....

This one has the same type front sight, maybe they would take some close up pics so we can see what it is all about?

OK so it may be an m24 rifle with the smaller front globe. The M24 front sights are held in place with a small set screw at the bottom of the insert....unique for sure.

well, you guys let me down! I was following this thread, and kept saying "Be strong", they'll all sell and you won't be tempted! So I held out for a whole month! But there are still some there, which meant that I had to order one today. Thanks a lot ! Can't wait till it shows up.

Hey Rustynut,, maybe wait to see what you receive. Seems not a lot is known about these rifles and not much online either. I got one similar to yours but it has a twist off metal cap ,, but not sure why its has or needs the cap as the front sight piece freely pops out by pulling on either of two tabs. (So the cap seems redundant). Yours could be a diff version without the redundant cap? Ill post some pics but sorry i havnt even cleaned her up yet.

Welcome to the addiction Jes

And half pulled out,,,

The knurled piece that threads into the front sight tunnel should hold the insert tightly in place. The tabs on the insert should fit into slots on either side that keep the insert from moving around. It might be that yours has the wrong insert so the tabs don't fit or the sight is bunked up enough that the knurled nut won't thread in far enough to hold it.

Do you gents know if the front globe sight inserts fit the M58/M69 centerfire rifles? They look the same. Mine only came with one.

No idea Kurgan. Hopefully someone else more knowlegeable will chime in.
Thanks Turbo you were right! I finally got a chance to start taking it apart n clean her.. The front sight dial was loose but now it holds tightly on the insert.

On to my trigger. Anyone know if this is an M33 or later trigger?
