Well looks like the Canadian market finally has some decent selection in milsurps again. Chilean mausers & m95 @ $420 & 225. Now who's going to be the first to step up?

I made a thread in general forum afew hours ago without a single hit. The chilean "carbine" in 308 peaked my interest abit. If money wasn't so tight...

Pretty sure that Chile used 7x57, not the 7.65.
It would be easy enough to ask TradeEx if the rifles have been rebarrelled.

Agreed. There is info to suggest that '95 action .308 coverstions were done by reboring and using a chamber insert. I hope that's not the case. I would like both the 7mm & .308 carbine in the '98 based action. Can't really justify the price at this time. If they were 100 bucks less I would buy both.

Well aren't we a bunch of wet blankets? They are still selling the 7x57 1912 so I think that rules out the 7.65 X53 rechamber idea. Price might be a bit high, but come on you get the best of german maufacture in an easy to find caliber.

My bad, I was thinking of the 1909. Excuse the error please. Up coughing, with plugged sinuses. No excuse, I know. You're right. I will delete the post.

I bought a Modelo 1912 in 7.62 NATO. Its a little beat up, including the bolt, but the rifling is pretty good. Barrel was probably not shot much since the conversion. Its a light carbine that points well and nice to shoot offhand for a milsurp. I shot it a couple times and the front band came loose, need to get the pin firmly into the hole in the band. It shot well but I didnt put alot through it before the band came loose. Its not matching but I knew that when I bought it.

I bought one of the Styer 95/30 carbines. I spoke with Anthony and told him I was looking for a shooter with good bore. I ordered it on a Friday and it was delivered next Thursday. Bore looks good to me. Serial #'s match and there are only a few minor marks in the wood. There is a line of lightly stamped very small #'s stamped just behind the muzzle on the barrel. This I assume is the "dreaded" UN markings? Also ordered some brass. Getting the thing to shoot cast bullets well will be one of this summer's challenges. I'm happy with the rifle and happy with the service.

I bought a 1912 long rifle in 7x57 and one in 7.62 Nato. They are exactly as advertised, Good +. They aren't Very Good but better than Good.

In my opinion the ad and price are fair. The bores in both are at least VG+.

For a few dollars more, Jean Plamondon has some Very Good ones. They are mismatched but are in better cosmetic condition.
