Wow, just had my dreams dashed. Anyone check the premium for a used FN98 Husky in 9.3x62. Puts it close enough to the cost of a new rifle to not make it worth it. I can see $400-500, but $500 to a little over $700  Might as well make the leap to a mint new Ruger African.

Considering what it would cost to build one of those Huskies today, the Tradex rifles are quite reasonably priced. The Ruger Alaskan is a good rifle too, I like them, but consider that the cost of a new Ruger allows the manufacturer, importer and retailer to all make a profit, so how much did it really cost to make?

A 9.3X62 bolt gun was probably carried more than shot, and it would take quite a few rounds down the bore before a worn lead would be noticed. Then again, the price of a new Ruger Alaskan would probably cover the purchase a used Tradex rifle and the purchase of a new barrel.

My issue isn't with the Husky being a good rifle, just the fact that the 9.3x62 is around $200-$300 more than any other caliber, bumping it close enough to the price of a new rifle, that blows any 'value' in buying used. I do recall the last batch where the 9.3x62's were the same as the other calibers, that was value.
