Trading ratings?

There was a time, I think, when you did not have to ever post anything - and could still get EE access - old days that have been gone for a while ...
It feels pretty complicated to get access to things lol I have access to message just not to post

Hi, raising this one again, as I'm perplexed by this as well. I get the trader rating (feedback score) triggered by a purchase, but then for EE I am locked out from replying to a post, so how the heck does one get turned on to reply to a post, to make an initial purchase, to get an initial feedback score? My account has been active for over the 45 days and I think I have met the other posting requirements. Would love some clear guidance.

I do not know how the revised current system fully works, but if you can see the ad, I believe that you can "start a conversation" with that Seller - that used to be called sending him a PM - Private Message - I am not 100% sure of that, because I am fully accepted into the system, I think, and that is how I do it. No one else can "reply" to or comment on anyone else's ads - those are NOT like these threads.

The FAQ is at the top of the forum page.

You can’t sell, so you must buy, in order to gain trader rating. (Positive feedback)
There’s also a certain number of positive posts required.
And finally, a 45 day waiting period.

I’ve got 5 days to go, and then I’ve ticked all the boxes :)
It’s a bit tedious, but I get it. Been on other forums that have similar (albeit it maybe not quite so stringent) requirements. Otherwise, buy and sell forum can be chaos with people not interested in participating in the community at all, just interested in hocking their stuff.

When I first got access to the EE I purchased and sold some inexpensive items until I built up a bit of a trader rating. No sense listing a firearm worth several thousand dollars as your first item because no one will touch it if you haven't established a trader rating.

Scams, Scammers and Scamming is becoming more prevalent.

I believe these onerous requirements are put I'm place largely to protect the classifieds from bandits who will take your money and ship you nothing.

It's just the unfortunate state of the world at this time....

Don’t be complacent.
Trader ratings here have become a crap shoot. They don’t mean much to me any more.
The old days here are gone. Trust no one.

Chrispy123, you can not respond directly to the EE advert, you have to click on the members name if you wish to ask questions about the item for sale (if buying) .
Once again, one can not respond directly in the EE like we do in the sub forums about a topic.
Does that make sense ?
Also a word to the wise, get a phone number and speak with whom ever you intend to consider a deal with before sending any funds.
Failing any or all of what I said, contact a moderator, they are a wealth of information and can assist further.

Nothing complicated about it.
You have to contribute to the forum in the other topics in the forum.
Starting threads of interest to you.
After so many and I am not sure the number (might even be a time limit as well) you will then gain access to the EE Sub Froum or you can pay a small fee and jump that line per'ce and will be allowed access to the EE.
If all else fails, re-read the rules and that will explain it....failing that search out a Moderator and ask them what if anything you can do to expedite the process.

Yes, I get this now to PM the seller. Makes sense. Thanks!

What payment methods are people using to avoid shenanigans? I've used Etransfers for people I trust and Peypal goods and services for anything else in the past.
