How many of you still use traditional primitive weapons for hunting? I mean cap or flintlock with real blackpowder and round or minnie balls. How about longbows or recurve with wood shaft arrows?

I really enjoyed my T/C Hawken, but sold it and haven't replaced it yet. I used Ffg and either round balls or 410gr Buffalo Bore bullets. Here is a picture after a great hunt:

Is anyone using these types of weapons for moose or elk?

Couple bucks from the Wainright Muzzleloader season a few years back.

ETA - .50 cal T/C Renegade, with pure lead maxi.

Picked up a 54 recently that belonged to a late friend. If I don't connect with an elk during bow season, I will pack it for the entire rifle season with a patched pure lead round ball. Punched 2 through the same hole at 25 yards the other day (first shots I have taken with this rifle). I figure the farthest shot I have ever needed on an elk is about 80 yards, so why not.

Pudelpointer - those are fine looking bucks. Do you have a really late season for elk, or are you talking about the upcoming season?
