Hello, I'm newish here (lurking awhile).

Does anyone who owns this gun have an opinion about it?

I hope someone has something good to say, because 300 is my upper limit whilst standing on tiptoe (university student). Thousand dollar guns are out of my reach in this decade.

So it's this flinter, a used flinter, or no flinter, and since caplocks don't interest me.....I guess that would be that for black powder which really sucks because I've wanted one since I was a kid, just never knew it was a realistic dream.

I'd go with a Lyman Percussion then, they can be had from Lebaron for under $300. I've heard nothing but bad things about the Traditions.

x2 On Lyman, and it comes in flint lock , $495 @ Lebaron. Well worth saving up the cash. Its looks , and shoots great. .54 cal to be sure

I'm really sorry to hear you guys say that, as the lyman is 600 with tax and shipping, which is twice my absolute max, not gonna happen.

And as I mentioned, percussion just isn't for me.

So I guess I wait for the tooth fairy to offer me a good used flinter for less than 300.

Investarms is much the same as Lyman, and they can be found used for much less. There was a couple on the exchange forum not that long ago, they may still be for sale. Keep looking

I own and shoot one myself. Not the highest quality but it works. Unbelieveable accuracy out of the box. I shoot real black only in it though. I shoot 70 grains and Lee REAL bullets. About 1.5 " at 75 yards out of the box. I would say go for it, just be careful of your load at it is a spanish barrel. For plinking and fun factor just get it.
