This was taken from another forum, thought Ide share it with you guys, makes me sick to my stomach to hear this, looks like the guy is going to get off with nothing more then a slap on the wrist too...

"We just learned that Josh Leger was tragically killed yesterday while hunting in his home province of Quebec. Details are sketchy at this point, but apparently someone in an automobile fired a rifle at his decoys hitting Josh in the head.

Again, I don’t have any more details, but our prayers go out to all of Josh’s friends and family. As we get more details we’ll post them here."

"He was out hunting with friends and clients and someone thought his spread of snow geese was an actual flock that had landed. The guy pulled over and crawled his way into the field and took one shot with a .22 rifle. Hitting Josh right above the eye. His partner heard the whistling of a flying bullet and then a tiny impact, asked Josh if he had heard. When no answer came, he turned around and realise Josh had been hit. The rest of the story is irrelevant, Josh is dead."

Crazy if true. Is there a link to a news group reporting this or is it just hear say?

"Un homme fera face à des accusations à la suite d'un accident de chasse qui a tourné au drame dans le Bas-Saint-Laurent.

A man will face charges after a hunting accident that caused a drame in the Lower St Lawrence (region).

Jocelyn Léger, 41 ans, a perdu la vie alors qu'il chassait l'oie à Sainte-Flavie, tout près de l'aéroport de Mont-Joli.

forget this line Jocelyn Leger, age 41, lost his life while hunting geese at Sainte Flavie, near the Mont Joli airport.

L'homme originaire de Pointe-Calumet a été atteint d'une décharge d'arme à feu.

The man, originally from Pointe Calument had ??? the discharge of a firearm.

Un autre chasseur a été arrêté et comparaîtra, cet après-midi, au palais de justice de Rimouski. Il pourrait être accusé de négligence criminelle et d'usage négligent d'une arme à feu."

An other hunter has been arrested and will appear at the court house in Rimouski. He will be charged with criminal negligence and negligent use of a firearm.

Pfft, thats not hunting.

First of all, you can't shoot migratory birds with a .22

Second of all, you have to make sure of your target, and of what's behind it.

And I know you can't shoot birds while they're swimming. I assume you cannot shoot them on land. Don't quote me on that, I don't hunt migratory birds (yet)

Quality labatt Quebec hunting from a moving vehicle... His unemployment check must have been blown already on 6/49 tickets and he was hoping to eat some duck in the drive-thru.

I could take a guess that the math worked out something like this:

idiot + .22 = tragedy. (alcohol is sometimes a factor)

Ya..

That made me think to.. if buddy was doped up on some shrooms or something crazy, because it just doesn't make sense for a sober person to take the time to see, point "still seeing" and taking a shot, all the while not seeing one of those decoy's moving.

Idiot, and wow... of all rounds a .22

You know, this kind of thing is just crazy. And it makes me have second thoughts target practicing at an old gravel pit "can here the odd whizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

Exactly, not hunting, that's POACHING!

"A POACHER illegally trespassed onto private property, used a rifle to illegally shoot migratory waterfowl, (probably didn't have a license, either) and killed a hunter with his poorly aimed shot."

Grouseman, that sounds like manslaughter to me.
But...
You dont often get a slap on the wrist for criminal neglegence causing death.

Sick, and sad. It should remind us though that our sport is one of the safest in the world, but sometimes bad things can happen.
All for a goose... sad.

that'll make you sick to your stomach, eh.
not only how can you mistake decoys for real ones, but how can you miss all the humans in the mix? brutal...

Apparently the perp was a 59 year old local. He proceded to flee the scene after the incident once he realized what he had done, luckily one of the guys managed to get the licence plate number from the truck and they caught him shortly there after. I read in the news that they let him go though on the condition that he shows up to his court date. He only being charged with negligent use of a firearm or so I hard in the news. Unreal...
