Tragic news from Kamloops

This gentleman has been in IPSC for a long time (and the term gentleman applies). When I had first met him, single-stack open guns (with long 10 round magazines) were the hot new thing and production division had not even been invented yet. His enthusiasm for the shooting sports whether it was IPSC or smallbore rifle (or motorcycles or dragon boating) knew no bounds. I would have happily referred anyone who was interested in IPSC as a shooting sport to him for instruction. He was a great person and a responsible and experienced competitor. He will be missed.

Andrew

A tragic and unfortunate event not to be forgotten. Our condolences to all the friends and family of a great contributor to our sport.
Sincerely,
Brett H.B

Such a tragedy - what's even worse is what this thread is devolving into - what if his wife or family (outside of his IPSIC family that is) were to read those comments ?
relevant or not it would be heart breaking to read and it is insensitive at this time and more importantly in this thread.

+1 on that kivas Let's move forward from this moment on with no further negative banter/replies that are out of context with this thread and no further debate on any levels that are not in keeping with respecting a friend, colleague and family member. If anyone feels they need to be "heard" then relegate any desire to pursue that level of discussion to PM messages. Thank you

Sounds like we lost a good one. This is my home range. A very safe and enjoyable place. I just can't believe the news. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. RIP.

I met this man last summer when i took my course and had the pleasure to see him this thursday at IPSC practice. We talked about the weekends shoot and my first match. I was going to see him on Sunday. He was a great man even though i barely knew him.

If anyone could PM me information about if Poco is doing anything or how i can send my condolences.

...from the over 15 years I've known him on the range.and at countless matches...super nice, always a good word to say about everyone and everything, would go out of his way to help at any time, smiling always......he left a wonderful impression of himself with me and will always be remembered......my thoughts are with his family

Sounds like he was a great guy, sad accident for all involved. Condolences to friends and familly.

I know when I drop something I tend to react without thinking about catching the item in the air..... sometimes I will catch or cushion the item with my foot! It's something to think about when handling guns for sure ,but in reality I think I would have to train at it in order to break my instinct to try and recover the dropped item if it's within reach.

I'm not involved in IPSC and didn't know him personally, but its always a sad day whenever something like this happens. RIP and my thoughts are with the family as they go through this time. As someone else said, you leave for a day of fun with your hobby and it can turn into this so quickly. You never know somedays :(
