Trail cam pics

This "doe" is a buck, he has only one spindly spike, the other broken off, seems to be sampling the bits the ravens dropped. I understand deer do eat from gut piles at times.

These are from this fall.

Here's a nice buck that showed up a couple of times but I never saw again.

Here is the buck that I shot. He is literally seconds from his death. I am in a stand to the top right of the picture. He is very tasty!

I didn't want to waste much so I figured I'd see what else is out there so put the skin out to see what showed up. A couple of ravens ate the guy pile in two days. A bald eagle also showed up. About a week later two coyotes showed up and shewed on the pelt.

My impression of the above is that what you see is an older deer. I'm basing that on the white on his forehead, and the body condition. All that could be just the camera angle/lighting. But I think you are lucky to have caught him like that.
He didn't get that big, or old by being stupid.

The deer don't winter on my property. By mid January they have moved off the hills to their yards down the valley and they return during late March/early April.

I've already seen some fawn tracks around, a good sign. This weekend I will set up my cameras for the season to see what's out and about.

This guy eluded me last fall. I spent the season hunting for him and he was better at being where I wasn't than I was at being where he was. These pictures were taken where I have tree stands...that I wasn't sitting in when he passed by.

Well it is good to here I am not the only one to be teased and taunted by a decent buck. One played with me all last fall. When I wasn't in my hide he would come and stand in front of it and get his picture taken. I found his remains including the rack last January, the wolves had got him.

two cameras not only survived, but the batteries still read full, and they continue to take shots. These batteries (Energizer Lithium) were put in a year ago about this same time of year. Spypoint cameras.
My Primos camera took only photos of me setting it up.

Not sure what's up with it, batteries or camera are dead. Have yet to test the batteries.
One of the Spypoints, (Jay's) gathered over 1400 pics over the winter. Mostly of waving trees, snow falling and the like, but there are a good number of deer pics. And one headless moose pic.

I have 8 Spypoint Force-Bs , 2 U-Way and 2 Bushnels . The Bushnels died in the first winter and never took good pics anyway , one of the U-Ways still works and the 8 Spypoints have been out for 2 years , take very good pics and none have died . In two years about 4 or 5 battery changes .
 
Stickied , awesome . Hey guys whos' pics aren't showing because of photobucket , get another pic hosting site and re-post .Your trail cam pics are great .
