Good Day,

Searching the internet and trying to find a trailcamera that does not have a flash of any type.

Do not want any flash spooking game or tresspassers using it for target practice once they trigger the flash.

See that an IR (infared has a low flash or no flash??)

Hope CGN'ers can point me into the direction of the right product as I am finding my knowledge is well surpassed by the technology out there.

Thank-you.

Have a look here; trailcampro.com

Look specifically at the Reconyx, they do have INVISIBLE to the human eye IR cameras. Oh ya, notice THEY ARE NOT CHEAP!!!

I run the SpyPoint IR6... They work great on Lithium AA batteries & take decent night time IR pics & good daytime pics. The IR is not invisible on my SpyPoints... That option is just too rich for me!

Cheers
Jay

I have some that have IR flash only, but there are still downsides here. I have used them with the flash blacked out with a piece of unetched circuit board(use whatever you have) to cover the flash, but be sure you leave the motion and light sensors uncovered.

In my experience, the flash doesn't alarm game at all. Trespassers will definitely see the flash! Modern higher end IR camera's have virtually undetectable IR flashes. Look for one that advertises an invisible IR flash. I mainly use homebrewed trailcams so if I want to turn the flash off I can :D. I also recommend some type of locking mechanism for attaching your trailcam to a tree. Determined thieves will still take your cam but it will deter the novice thief. Good luck with your trailcams.

i have a few moultries IR's, 2 m-80xt and 2 i spy 45"s.
the m-80xt does have a red glow like most IR cameras. the newer IR cameras have "black led" technology i think is what they call it. no red glow, no flash. the m-80 black is one of these so be carefull what you get. the red glow from the IR hasen't spooked anything i have gotten pics of.

"An integrated 45 low-glow LEDs (invisible to animals and people) allow subjects to be captured faithfully - even in total darkness"

Has anyone every used a Moultrie M-60 Game Spy?

I've never really used a trail cam but my dad's been wanting one forever. I picked one of these up for his birthday. Any reviews would be appreciated.

For animals, just use the cheap IR cams. They see the faint red glow but they seldom run.

The humans however, are a different story. The new "black" or "blackout" trail cams are suppose to be invisible to the human eyes, but reading the reviews at Bass pro and Cabala's, some of them are still visible. Wait a bit. The technology ought to improve fast.

Oh, by the way fergie, do something about that video clip you are using as your signature! It is really distracting. It reminds me of a girlfriend I had in Montreal many moons ago! Stop it man!:xes

I run a few Moultrie I-60's. They're an incredible camera with exceptional battery life. Not small or pretty but I have lots of good pics and some nice deer thanks to them. The flash is still visible to the human eye, but only really noticable in complete darkness....

Right on. That's what I like to hear.

Would it be possible to buy a cheaper camera with normal flash and disconnect the flash somehow?, you wouldn't get night pictures obviously but it would save you some coin and battery life.

my older moultries, i think they were d-50's. when you were in the menu you could use the flash or not. slow trigger speed on them so if you ste it up too close you would only get the rear end on trails. worked much better with some sort of feed in front of them. with the flash on you would get a lot of washed out pics in the summer if the camera was in the shade and the deer or whatever was out in the sun, the flash would trigger.
this is what i mean.

get one of the newer IR cameras. betteries last for months ever on video mode. get your night pics without the flash and much nicer day time pics.

The big advantage to the I60 is the internal viewing screen. ;)

i bring my tablet with me and use a usb card reader, works great with bigger viewing screen. i used to bring an older dig camera to view on the 3" screen but my eyes must be getting bad, i have a hard time seeing those little screens anymore....LOL

Just switch the SDHC card out for a new one and look at the pics at home or on a laptop. That way you don't stick around the camera too long and leave unnecessary scent. For a lot of my pics you could miss a lot of animals if you're only looking at a 3" screen. But to each his own.
