Trail cameras for a special purpose

Best by far is the Scoutguard SG580M celphone camera. Excellent pics that can be sent instantly to up to 4 phones/email addy's. So what, they stole the camera. You can still send their pics to the police. You will know within seconds when someone or something is in front of the camera. It does everything you want except come in under $200. They retail around $350 plus cost of sim card. If you're already a Rogers customer, simply clone your current card.

There are a number of different companies that offer a Cell system game camera like the Spy Point Live, but replies like this kill a thread fast because it was a reply that don't even fall into the question asked.

As far as the thread it was asked for a Camera UNDER $200.00 so we try to work with products in or around that price range...

I'm wanting to get a dual purpose trail camera:
1) 90% of the time as a security camera at the cabin
2) 10% for a game cam

So, requirements are:
IR/no flash or light that would provoke human interest
Silent
Long battery life, or can be wired to a solar panel
Cost below $200
Good trigger speed/image

We can do a pretty good job of securing and hiding the camera as long as it doesn't draw attention to itself.
So, what would you guys recommend and why?

I've read these forums, but none really touch on the silence and security aspects of these cameras much.

Bushnell Trophy cams have a $200 price point, 1 year battery life, and the new versions of the camera have a black LED, so No IR flash.

I own one and I am very happy with it. They score right behind the Reconyx cameras according to the tests on http://www.trailcampro.com

Anyways B&H has them in stock and they ship to Canada.

The Bushnell Trophy cams that I have might work; they are very small and I know whenever I set mine up, I always end up with 8-10 pics of myself either putting the camera in place, or taking it down. Yet I never notice the UV sensor/flash as the pics are being taken. I bet a prowler around your back door (or whereever) wouldn't notice it either.

The Black Flash model or the regular IR model ?? because if your talking about the regular Trophy cam I agree if its daytime, but at night time for sure you will see the LED's glow.

And the Tiny W comes in at $200? I've seen them in stores in Ontario for a lot more than that. Other people have offered suggestions well above the OP's $200 limit and you didn't jump on them, what gives?

Back on track now...the UWAY cameras are a great peice of kit, I have the NT50B and the NX 50. They are very similar in operation, but the NT50B has a black flash that is totally invisible to the human eye. If it was concealed well with some brush piled up around it, it would be very hard to find.

You can find a Primos Truthcam 46 for that $ however you should realize that the bank of "IR" LEDs are visible to the human eye and are quite noticeable in the dark as is the case with many IR cameras.

This camera also can also be plugged into an external 6V battery or solar panel for long battery life. I use a large 6V rechargeable battery with mine and it lasts a LONG time. Image and video quality are very good and it will handle SD cards up to 8GB.

To give you an idea of how visible the lights are, see my video here:
