How about some recommendations for a trail cam in the $0-$150 range.
I would like infra red flash & don't care about much else as long as it works!
After reading the reviews & searching GNutz I am more confused than ever:confused:
Looking thru Cabela's this is the one that most sticks out....but

What's on sale now that a guy could mail order?

I have a Scoutguard S500 or something and LOVE IT!! A little more but well worth it!

I also picked up a WildGame IR4 trail camera and am very impressed!!

The Scout Guard SG570V is a great little camera for $159 regular price. I have one and it works great, it is an IR camera that runs on 4 AA batteries. Lasts a long between battery changes and takes 5 MP pictures or VGA video.

Anybody have experience with Wildgame Innovations??

I have 4 Wildgame cameras. 2 that are 3 years old, and 2 I just picked up at Gander Mountain in Watertown. I am very satisfied with all of them. For the price, they are good quality and produce decent pictures. And the battery life is great. I don't think I'd buy anything else, as these do the job and at a great price...

I bought my first trail camera its a bushnell Trophy Cam $199 it takes amazing pictures.

I want to use it for security when its not being used for scouting game but is there anyway to hide the glow from the IR LED's?....I see some cameras now have tinted glass over the array think it would effect range or quality of photos if I put window tint over the IR array?......

I just bought a SG570 from Scoutguard. Takes clear quiet pics. Its so small it it can be hid very well and they made security boxes for them.

I'm in the market for atleast one more and I don't know if I should get a SG570/550 or go for a Bushnell Trophy bone collector model. One year battery life!!! I'd leave it up north all winter over some bait.

That is some very clever advertising, if you look closely in the fine print it says "In stand-by mode." Which means no pictures, just sitting there ready to take pictures.

I have an old moultrie I-40, a scoutguard sg-550 and a Bushnell trophy xlt. All three will give me the best part of a year of battery life in the field. I don't get a lot of deer in my area so there aren't tons of pics on them though.

The Bushnell is my favorite, color screen and simplest setup. The scoutguard is small too but a PITA, it writes the pics to the card is such a manner that many pocket cameras and some computers won't recognize it.

The old moultrie is the size of a shoebox but won't die so I keep putting it out.

If I had to get another I would most likely get another trophy cam.

I have had a Bushy 5.0 Trophy cam for two years now, took tons of pics, batteries last a long long time and they take nice color pic's. The one thing I dislike is that the night pic's are not as good as the old Moultrie I had, but I believe the newer Bushnells have more LED's to brighten things up more.

One thing you will want to check is if there is any click sound when a pic is taken. My Moultrie had one and the deer always heard it and stared at the cam, my Trophy makes no sound at all.

"shotgunbob" I want to use it for security when its not being used for scouting game but is there anyway to hide the glow from the IR LED's?

You can always by an external black light and connect it to the cam you have now. http://ww w.trailnsecuritycameras.ca/uway_xtendir_b.html or just buy a new one with black flash.

Bass Pro has Moultrie Game Spy D-55 on for $99.
I'm gonna try one of those.

Can anyone explain why the above Moultrie I-45 (which has less pic resolution than the D-55) is priced quite a bit higher?

I have one and the picture quality is great, the battery life is usually around 1500 or so high res photos.

I have tried a few and am most impressed with the Wild Game Innovations IR2MP. They are currently $70 at Bass Pro Shop. The D battery Moultrie was hard on batteries and even with 5MP the pictures were not as good as the Wild Game Innovations IR2MP. The Wild Game Innovations IR4MP was a better picture but at more money. I also just bought a Moultrie mini that take AA batteries that seem to be taking good pictures, but it was $179. So overall I feel the best bang for your buck and you won’t cry too much over if it is stolen is the Wild Game Innovations IR2MP. Oh yeah, when you start your going to wish you started something less addictive like cigarettes.
